Mulholland drive isn't your average movie. I picked it up on Tuesday (along with Spy Game) and just had the chance to watch it last night.
If you're familiar with any of Lynch's movies, you already know that most of his films are based on somewhat of a dream logic. I had seen Mulholland Drive in theaters, and came out totally confused! It's definitely a movie that deserves several repeat viewings. As soon as you figure something out with the movie, the storyline does a complete 180.
Even if you don't get a kick out of Lynch's style, you'll still probably enjoy the numerous lesbian encounters. Just don't watch it with your parents or anything. I took my grandma to see Mulholland Drive after it started playing here in Atlanta (huge mistake). Just sitting there with a 62 year old woman while watching lesbians go at it isn't the most comfortable seat in the house (if I would have know in advance, I probably would have gone alone).
Anyhow, watch it a couple of times and report back on what you think!

I have heard that the lesbian scenes were intense, maybe the only reason I rent the movie.

I'd say that's cause for concern. Does she still go to slumber parties?

I saw this flick the other night. I read a few on-line analyses of this movie to confirm my understanding of it.
If anyone has any specific questions, I'll try to help.........
Basically first 2/3 of movie is a dream sequence. The last 1/3 is a flashback of events that really happened. Then the last few moments are real life real time when she offs herself.
The lesbo scenes were two erections up - way up. Did anyone else catch the blurred out muff in the only frontal nudity scene? I don't think this was the censors - I've seen plenty of female frontal nudity in R movies. I think it was an intentional part of the dream sequence.
Anyway, the DTS soundtrack is fabulous, with deep throbbing bass, powerful snapping punches, and the crash scene in the beginning and the screaming at the end were SO loud and screechingly clear over the CS400i - talk about DTS dynamic range - I was amazed! A lesser center would have wilted - it's THAT loud.

I usually like Lynch movies, if only because they aren't like anything else at the cineplex. Now, I wouldn't recommend it solely for the sex scenes. They make a certain kind of movie just for that purpose, you know! However, they were hot scenes. I don't think this movie was a "comeback" for Lynch, but then again, I liked Lost Highway, which a lotta people seemed to think was a bad movie, a sign of "decline". Haven't seen his "normal" movie, The Straight Story, yet. If you like weird Lynch movies, you'll probably like this one. If not, stay away from it. If you've never seen a weird Lynch movie, you could start with this one, altho I prefer Blue Velvet & Wild at Heart. The DVD comes with DD 5.1, DTS, & 2.0 Dolby soundtrack choices, which is nice. DTS soundtrack is indeed great, but I had to change it to DD 5.1 late nite mode due to living in apt & watching it late at nite.

I thought it was one of the better movies I've seen, a bit of true genious that's hard to come by; but I'm just another dude.

Just saw this movie last night......searched and found this thread. I didn't think this one was so old. Anyway, 2 1/2 hours long, and I was completely lost most of the time. If it wasn't for the nude action scenes most probably I would have turned it off.

It's definitely a thinker. I had to go online and read explanations and then watch it again before I really appreciated it. Take that how you will.
