View Full Version : Should this be considered work?

Maybe it's just me.

I work for the government but apparently I can spend my work hours looking for another job within the government. The amount of time spend doing this should be approved by one's supervisor but I think most people here are abusing that policy....they spend hours on end writing resumes, filling out applications, and printing them out on the office printer.

I just don't feel this is right.

That should be considered unemployment.

Obviously that can't be consider a real job... and the people abusing are just bastards!

If your boss give you a couple of hours to go to a interview that's fine, but if you spend your whole day filling out application forms and sending out resumes you're practically stealing your salary...

That's my thinking exactly. We do get job announcements via e-mail once in a while, but the act of applying should be done on personal time. This just seem too over-the-top for doing personal things during work hours.

Posting on Club Polk is different. ;)

Off course it is... it helps you to release stress to be a better employee which, at the end, is good for the company you work for... :D

Here at my company I can't even make personal phone calls or use the Internet connection to post on the Polk Forum (I guess they don't check on me too often :p )

What a difference!!!

I don't make personal phone calls on the office phone neither. However, I have to have the internet connection since we often find out things on the 'net before they make an announcement here (if at all).
