sure many people here have hate the prequels- but just wanted to see who's going to buy it, who liked the movie, and any discussion related... :D

Hope they put the Qui-Gon scenes back into the DVD release.

btw- the soundtrack is really kickass. The best of the lot from a musical standpoint. If anybody has it- what do you think of the bonus DVD that came with it? It was worth the purchase alone!

I'm gonna wait for the 6 set on DVD to buy them all...anyone know when that will happen?

Thats why I waited on the dvd release of the original trilogy...

Definitely buying. My favorite of the new ones, and I enjoyed all of them.

I agree the score is excellent. I still prefer the score to the first prequel as a whole experience, especially since they released the two-disc version and the cues are in chronological order. It's kind of cool to have every bar Williams wrote for a film.

In regards to the "bonus" disc, it's pretty silly. No real reason to purchase the set if you can get the score disc alone. The bonus disc is just Ian McDairmid sitting in front of a barren orchestral recording studio, introducing snippets of the story, and then a 4-5 minute video w/ a montage of scenes pertaining to a specific element of the story, set to particular cues from one of the six film scores. Nothing really worth watching even once, let alone repeatedly. The only thing that made it worth a look was the fact that it came out before Ep. III hit theaters, so there was some footage that had not been shown on tv.

I loved the new ones. Hell I grew up on the old ones and I still like the new ones better!

I will be the first in line to buy Episode 3!!

Qui-Gon scenes?!?!?! Were there some deleted scenes from Ep 3?

yeah gregure- but it's STILL Ian Mc.Diarmond. That was just weird him being there if you know what i mean.

If you take the commentary off- and just listen to the music it's pretty good. It's mixed in 5.1 (the only thing i don't like is the added dialogue in some parts)

Yeah there's supposed to be some scenes with Qui-Gon talking to Yoda or some shit like that. Don't know why they took it out-

I'll buy it. My daughter wants to see it and I want to complete the collection, although I doubt I'll watch it more then once.

I will be asking for it for christmas. If I don't get it - you can be sure I will have it before the year is over. Of the new ones, III was by far the best.

i agree. I think the unsung hero so to speak of the prequels was Mc.Diarmonds performance. He held all the movies together and really provided the bright spots in the entire prequel trilogy- especially Ep.III.

I guess my favorites in this order are Empire, Hope, Sith, Jedi, Menace, then Clones.

I'll buy it first day for sure. Then I can enjoy 12+ hours of star wars!

Liam (qui-gon) and Lucas couldn't get on the same page to get the scenes in the theatrical release...but I would count on those scenes being in the DVD. With as much as the book refered to Yoda and Qui-gon talking and with the ending of the movie, I would be very suprised if we don't see more.


Now I'm just waiting for Star Wars in 3D....and the TV show.

I will buy it because I realy want to hear and see it on my HT set up. I was disappointed in it as a movie though.

Only if you have a 4:3 TV and have your DVD player set to widescreen. If you have a widescreen TV (or one that does the anamorphic squish) you wouldn't be able to tolerate non-anamorphic DVD's.

No matter how you look at it, with anamorphic, there's squeezing and unsqueezing involved with more chances for artifacts. I'll keep my lenses spherical for now.

"Another characteristic of anamorphic camera lenses is that out-of-focus elements tend to be blurred more vertically. An out-of-focus point of light in the background will appear as a vertical oval rather than a circle. When the camera shifts focus, there is often a noticeable effect where elements appear to stretch vertically when going out of focus. An anamorphic lens will also have a more shallow depth of field compared to a spherical lens for a given aperture."

I prefer anamorphic myself. I have a 4:3 tv w/ the dvd player set to 4:3.

There's a difference between a movie being shot with an anamorphic lens and an anamorphic DVD transfer -- isn't there?

Yes you have....

"Not to be confused with the anamorphic filming process, Anamorphic DVD is a way to bring more lines of resolution to the film picture for those with widescreen televisions. More lines of resolution means a sharper, more detailed picture."

So there you have it, the good and the bad.

Also keep in mind that no matter how good the good is, a bad transfer will kill it.
