I watched a pair of RTi8's in OKC last week on ebay with a price of $300 and local pickup only. Talked my brother into getting them and selling some other speakers so he could have some good floorstanding speakers at a good price.
Well, on Friday, the seller increased the price to $359 because he had no bids on them. I email him, then call him up to see if we could work out a deal and get my brother the speakers without having to wait until the auction ended. No problem, he would take $365 for them(to cover fees) and he also had a CSi5 for sale that he would take $175 for. SOLD
He picked them both up Sunday afternoon after listening to them at the guys house.
All together, he paid $540 for the three speakers. Not too shabby of a weekend for him.

I can't beleive you!!! I had written this EXACT same guy for the 8's and he was like, ya, and said he'd even ship them to me. Then he raised the price, and i wrote and was like huh? The next thing i knew, he took the auction away. I was not happy!!! I was sure i was going to score big time. Looks like you stole my thunder... nice ;)
Keep up the good work. Actually, it made me go for a pair of 10's. I wrote a guy, and he said he'd ship them to me $660 for both. Is this a good deal or could i do better?
Man... small world after all :P

Sorry :( , the seller didn't say anyone else had expressed interest. I only had him end the auction early because my brother was only going to be in OKC for part of the weekend(auction ended after he was going to go home). I didn't think there would be much interest for local pickup in OKC.
He was hesitant about getting the center channel until he heard it. He said he didn't know there was that much info in the center channel-he stepped up from a CS225 or CS250.
I guess if you really want them, he might be willing to resell them and meet you halfway between Tulsa(where he lives now), and KC. PM me if you are interested.
He has so many speakers, he will have to sell some sooner or later to pay for some school. He has ended up with most of my past speakers: mismatched pair of RTi35's(one i version), RT5's, RTi4's, CS225(only one I didn't own), and a nice set of LSi7's-the ones I miss the most. Now he has added the RTi8's(black) and the CSi5(cherry). I have a feeling the seller picked them up from CC last year when they were selling everything for dirt cheap, but it is still a good deal.

Don't be crazy.. i'll get another deal soon enough. Thanks for the offer tho, that was nice. How pleased is your bro with the new setup?
Steer me right here.. i'm not going to regret picking up the RTi10's am i? I enjoyed the sound, and since i haven't tested that many speakers, i probably don't have enough room to speak. I can always upgrade to a paradigm or something later if i think there's that much difference right?

My buddy was bragging the other week that polk couldn't hold a flame to his paradigm. I didnt' notice that much difference. am i retarded? Maybe it's just cause i like the polks looks better.
We'll see. I might be crazy.

Nah, doesn't mean you're crazy. It's all subjective. In my own personal opinion, I think I'd rather have Paradigm than Polk. But like I said, sound is all subjective. One reason I like Paradigm (besides the reasonable prices) is their cabinets seem to be so solidly built and good looking.
Just listen and compare Polk and Paradigm and see what you like best. Neither's a bad speaker.

To each his own but watch out for the HOT Paradigm tweeter. They look like a million bucks and are great for home theatre but I'm not so sure about music. :)

nice score on the rti8's and center. rti10's at $660 for both, if new, is a good deal. not great, but very good.

i actually liked the lower-end monitor serieas polks. but these rti's look that much prettier! love all of mine. wish i could leave them naked, but my kids would probably collapse my darned tweets!
There is nothing spectacular about Paradigm when compared to Polk. In fact, the LSi series (compared to the P'digm reference) is flat out better engineering... But as usual, its up to the listener to decide what tickles their fancy. Both manufactorers produce fine speakers, with P'digm doing most of everything en'house.
Bottom of the line is that Polk Audio is frowned upon because of their presence in Circuit City, Crutchfield, Frys, and other massive mass market stores. Audio snobs just cant get past the idea of something thats easily accessable competing with something that isn't. Hey, if that person feels what he has is the best thing since 'the worlds smallest bikini'... more power to em'.. just smile and know that you know better.
