I recently purchased a pair of sda's, they sound amazing, however 1 or 2 of the mids in one of the speakers seems to be in need of replacement. At low to moderate volume levels they sound fine, but when turned up high I get a scratchy time noise coming from the mids. It seems to only manifest itself on the bass portions of a song. Anyway, lets assume I need to replace them,I wanted to save some time on researching, as to my best course of action.
ie- should I keep checking ebay, should I just get them from polk, I don't even know if I can get these replacements from polk. I know you guys will point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance,
Doug

Hi Doug,
All you need are 2 links, first find the replacement driver from here:
http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/service/models/modelpartslist.php3?model=sda
then look up the Club Polk price from here for the driver:
http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/service/parts/partslist.php3?item=drivers
Lastly, call Polk customer service and tell the rep that you are a member
of the Club Polk. Since you only need one driver, ebay won't give you
much saving. The CP price is a shipped price.

Replacing the drivers should be pretty straighforward, just grab a screwdriver, loosen the screws, disconnect the old driver and hook up the new one. Just make sure you use the right polarity.

A simple way to test if your drivers are bad is to take all 5 fingers of one hand, spread evenly around the driver cone. Gently push in, if you hear a scraping noise, it's bad.

Another easy way to test if there is a passive radiator....just slightly push the PR; this will make all drivers move; if you hear that scraping noise you can the easily follow it to identify which is/are the bad driver/s.

Hi Doug,
Like everyone already said, the replacement is relative simple, just unscrew, take the driver out, and screw the new one back. The most important is to remember which wire is for the +ve and which is for -ve so that you won't reverse the polarity accidentally.

I assume you do the "push test" with the speakers off?
