What if I used R30 towers for front & rear center speakers? My system as it
currently stands: R50 towers front, R20 rears, and a PSW12 sub. It seemed
more cost effective to grab a pair of the cheap R30s, but how would they
perform as center speakers. I'm using a projection system HT, so the R30s
would sit on the floor, just as their design intended. Driving receiver will
be something of the 100 watt/channel 6.1 variety. Room is probably
22X36. What say ye Polk experts?

Thanks,

Gort

it would look funny but there is nothing wrong with it. R30 as a rear is fine. just might need to elevate a tad bit.

If you could a CS1/3 Csi25 or another r50 as a front would be more important.

I have used an R30 as a rear center with R20 surrounds, and it works well. You should put the R30 on a table or stand, so the tweeter, is close to the height of the R20 tweeters (a little lower is okay).

As for the front, I don't know, never tried an R30 as a center with the R50s. Three R50s does make a solid front, with good impact.
