Here goes...
I'd be interested to hear everyone's views/opinion about the different subwoofers out there.
I'm personnally leaning toward the SVS 12 box sub, because it will be used mainly for HT use. (I've been told, that the SVS sub is EXCELLENT for the price and will deliver the "Bang" for the buck that i seek.)
What have you found to be the best, tightest bass for your HT systems?
Let me know.

I've had my 650 since it was first introduced and haven't felt the need to upgrade. I love that sub.

I think its a personal preference. Ive had my velco CT-150 for years and its an exclent sub. Friend of mine just picked up 2 used svs pc12-ultras and a crown amp to power them. wont find out for another month or so till the HT room is done too see how they compare. We watched 'Batman Beginning' last night....and though he wanted a tad more boom- he was impressed with the tightness of the servo-15. Its all preference.

You won't be disappointed by SVS. Search for Ed Mullen's review of the SVS PB10.
I think this may be the link, but I'm blocked at work:

Velodyne isn't the biggest, baddest, loudest, or lowest. But I find them incredibly accurate with music, and to me that's priority numero uno.

That's the link allright....and that's the sub I have, and love it; I could not have gotten any better for that price, and even several hundreds more....
Edit: I mean the link that PolkThug posted...Andrew was faster than me typing.....

Wow. Good article. Thanks. How did the Box Pb12 review? That's the one i am thinking about, but after reading this about the 10, it seems it might work just as well!
Good link. Thanks!

They get bigger and louder as you go up the SVS ladder.
What are your room dimensions?

I want a sub to go low. Below 20 Hz if possible. Some can. What you can't hear you can feel. Even sense. If they made a sub that operated in the 16 Hz - 40 Hz only, that would be great. At that point, "clarity" is kinda give and take. After all, things that low don't always tend to have a lot of movement to them*. the piano's lowest note (A) is like 27 Hz. There's even a Canadian Grand that has a few lower notes. This is the instrument with the lowest range.
BUT
big butt, your huge butt mondo bass drums? Their fundamentals hit WELL below that. Heck, I've even heard or a tribe that used to put a man to death by placing him between two drums and pounding the heck out of them. Those of you who know how LFE's act know that is very realistic. In any event, many front speakers can cover the range down to 28 Hz quite well. The comprimises it takes to get a few more Hz's really pushes the limits of how big a speaker people want and the effects on the rest of the drivers. And I haven't even addressed the sound effects in movies. Those break many rules as far as acoustics go. But for me, living in a Townhome, I cannot fully explore that venue yet. I can during the day.
* ever stand next to a upright bass player playing on his low E string with the bow, not plucking? Very hard to hear live. The bass's sweet resonating spot is the open D above that. Ofcourse, pianos have a lot of action in that low range, but the upper partials (even live) are what seem to carry mostly anyhow.

Do not mean to derail, but PC12-Ultras have built in amps. What do you mean that your friend picked up a crown amp to power them? They would hook up directly into the receiver wouldn't they?
Sorry once again for derailing. I love my SVS! :D

Room dimensions are approx. 24 X 16. That is why i'm thinking the 12 would work best. I don't like the look of the cylinder ones... too.. weird i guess ;)
I'll take the box sub any day. Plus, love the black wood. All about that.

My room is approx. 20x20 (only half of it used for HT), and the 10 fills just right; sure, a 12 (or 2 10's/2 12's) would be better, but I am happy with what the 10 gives me....

You can email SVS tech support. They were very helpful in determining the correct SVS sub for my situation. Just saving up to buy the SVS PB12-Plus/2. Almost there.......

Mr nightly, dont discount the DIY route. much info can be found on this forum (use te search) as well as home theater forum and others. if your handy (even a little) with wood. you might want to at least look into it. built my own sub, and I'm not the handiest guy in the world. my wife upholsterred it to look like an ottoman, a friggin 110 lb ottoman!!!
