Original - Westinghouse 7591 (self biased)

Looking at the replacement choices,

Electro-Harmonix 7591A
JJ / Tesla 7591S

Electro-Harmonix 7591A EH
Sovtet 7591XYZ (but requires a cathode resistor)

From the description, the 7591A should be a directly replacement. How about the JJ? Also, is the 7591A EH the same as 7591A? I will avoid the Sovtet unless it is much better than the others.

The're all 7591. The best thing to do is to buy them all. Not at once of course. Live with each brand for a while and try another. You'll find the one you like.
