Fight scenes look awesome as they're choreographed from Yuen Woo Ping.
Hopefully the director Ronny Yu has gone back to his earlier works to make this film an all round hit.
The fighter at the end is world strong man 6'11" Nathan Jones !?

Woo more jet li...
There's a movie he did years ago, with 3 parts, a shame they never filmed the 2nd and 3rd parts.

I think you're talking about the Once upon a time in China series? The story about Wong Fei-Hung. Jet did the first three and came back for the sixth. Recently the first 3 has been remastered as well !
Fearless is a pretty bad title and the story does seems similar but not exactly to Wong Fei-Hung. Though ever since HERO, Jet has taken the time to star in, and place an emphasis on storyline/meaning in his movies. Hopefully this one turns out well, at least based on the fight scenes- it's half way there. :)

I always love how the 5'2" 120 pound here beats the ever lovin' shit out of the 6'8" 300 pound champion weightlifter bad guy. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/sprachlos/speechless-smiley-034.gif

No different with Bruce Lee vs. Kareem Abdul Jabar, David vs. Goliath, a small fleet of X-wings to take out a Death Star, or a Hobitt on his journey against unimaginable odds. It doesn't have to be truly real as we root for the underdog. Just as long as the film is executed well and to begin with, these fights scenes look to be that way.
Plus we're talking Kung Fu here !? Possibilities are endless . Pressure points, Chi Gong (aka-the Force), Bruce Lee's one inch punch, Uma Thurman's five-point-palm exploding-heart technique, Neo's Jujitsu+Kung Fu download or even Ralph Macchio's Crane kick ( :p ) !! Whether in real life or in movies -Martial arts comes in handy when the odds are against you....Batman needed it too btw.
Who knows? The movie might suck but at least we're gonna get a better fight scene with Nathan Jones and not the lame way he went out in the movie "Troy".
Oh, and Jet's more like 5'6" ......but who's counting. ;)

Not the Once Upon a Time series altho that's a good point. The english title is The Kung Fu Cult Master.

Dlew, so they didn't make the 2nd movie; I saw the first one, and I was not able to find the 2nd one.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this was Bloodsport . Hopefully this is way better.

Actually Bloodsport was a pretty good movie for it's time. I remember the good word of mouth circling round to rent this flick. Launching Van Dammn's "career" (which he had a pretty good run)
It's kinda cheesy when you watch it today but it's grown to be a cult classic.
Classic enough to make it as one of the "guy's action movies" -recurring on the Spike tv channel . :D

O.K. I will admt to actually enjoying Bloodsport when it came out but I don't know how good of a movie it was. I was pretty young and a lot less critical of cheesy movies back then. Speaking of Jean Claude....where did he go? He was the B movie king there for a while.

He probably went to plan B, and is kicking the shit out of some burgers down at your local park-n-puke.

Actually Van Dammn's planning a return to Bloodsport. Promoting it by using real fighters and no wires, cgi, etc.
Should be interesting.

That would probably be a nice little moneymaker for him.

Jet Li sued for "Fearless" (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060327/ap_en_mo/jet_li;_ylt=AhOYESM8Qtn.87WrZhCoz4lxFb8C;_ylu=X3oD MTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--)
I wonder why the grandson is now suing since there've been many previous TV and movie productions about his grandfather.

I saw the region 3 dvd. The movie is awesome, so intense and charged with emotions it was a little surprising after all the dull pics both Jet Li and Yuen Woo Ping have been churning out in the US. It's just spectacular and gritty and pushes the philosophy of martial arts to the top.

I had this dvd in my hands 2 weeks ago. The legit Region 3 version with dts-es. Only one problem - No English subtitles and I speak Cantonese and not Mandarin. :(
English speaking markets have caught on to deter those who wish to see Asian dvds already released in their countries by withholding English subs on select Region 3 movies such as Fearless.
So far I've only seen bootlegs with poor English subtitling. Though judging from some of the fight scenes, it does looks spectacular. :)

Just saw it today at a friend's house, the sub-title were missing at the end of the movie, so I couldn't understand the Chinese writings. The DVD thatmy friend had only had 2-channel stereo, no DD or DTS. Very good action and a good movie overall.
