I am really surprised that the French Government is paralyzed on containing the riots. Having gone through the Los Angeles riot, after Rodney King fiasco, I have to say that 3 days of rampage felt like forever. It has been 12 days and counting. Where is the French's legion? where's the curfew, media black-out, and shoot-to-kill squads? geezz...

I don't know, some get really sensitive about the subject. Of course lard-ass is from the mild side of insults when it comes to Americans. :p

Ah more peace loving muslims I see.

Theyre reaping what they sew. Incompetence and corruption coming home to roost.

Theyve been no friend to us so I have no sympathy for them. Now if this were England or Australia that would be different.

I think I might be able to, barely, hear that violin in the background

When was the last time France was cordial to us??? If I remember correctly they made us fly around their airspace on our way to Libya and a few other times. I hate to see anyone suffer, but so far it sounds as though it has most been vandalism and some arson, with a few injuries. I haven't seen a report of deaths as of yet, but I can't say that I've been watching it unfold, either, as I could really care less. So has there been any deaths???

Much as I hate to say it, there is a hint of poetic justice in all of this...

then Dominique de Villepin is retarded. What the hell's he waiting for?

Not to downplay our own trials and tribulations but this makes New Orleans seem minor in comparison.

didn`t read the story, just flippin through the jokes..
which are funny ....funny and true..!!

I don`t think anybody thinks that is funny to set somebody ablaze, since all the comments were directed toward the French in general, not anything that may have happened to an individual (s)

Somebody set on fire ain`t funny in any part of the world...

That`s not rioting, that`s anarchy...terrorism,....ignorance

thats a good point George, and it feuls the angry side of my argument more. this has been going on for 13 days, and they havent called in the military yet? a cerfew started yesterday? What the hell have the authorities been doing, watching from rooftops eating pastry?!?!?!? 13 years of EMS has given me a morbid sence of humor, this I will admit, but that lady, and others, wouldnt have died if this was handles right. better to joke than let the anger get to me, its like a defense mechanism

Villepan said that "were not at that point yet" in regards to calling the military. I look in awe and friggin amazement as to what (or better yet, when) that point will be. thats not the local Police chief by the way, thats the Prime Minister saying that.

The anger certainly isnt toward you George, I'm sure you know that. Its just that rampant incompetance from those who lives are entrusted to tweaks my nipples just so :)

There hasn't been anything like this since the 1968 student revolt. As a result the entire government almost imploded. It will be interesting to watch that's for sure...
