I just helped a friend put together a first time seperates system. He went with an HK AVR 435 for his pre/pro(plans on upgrading later) and 3 Crown XLS 402 stereo amplifiers. The problem is: The amps only have balanced XLR inputs. Are there any RCA to balanced connectors out there, or did he just run into a goof? Thanks!

No, he's fine. Look in the instruction manual, it'll tell you how to hook up single ended sources.

oh, he's probably going to want to crank the volume all the way on the crown- when you hook it up like that it get half the voltage it normal expects.

You can also purchase Balanced to single ended or single ended to balanced adapters. I used the balanced adapter on my bat amp, My cdp is single ended & the amp is balanced. Cardas & BAT make them. Or what I use now is a custom cable balanced on one end & single ended on the other. Check your equip pin config. Usually pin 2 is hot & 1 and 3 is ground. You can build one using the confg.

Yeah and even if the adapter that you get has the pinout wrong, all that happens is the phase is flipped. Since it'll be flipped for all the channels, you're fine.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. He says he's going to have Blue Jeans make him some custom single to balanced cabes. I appreciate all the help. Take care.
