Well I know this has been tossed around a bit, but I am thinking of getting a velodyne sub. Right now I have a jbl psw 1000. First off to all you sub maniacs, will there be a change in the proformance. Not knowing much about subs, this will be my last investment. I did look at the svs series, out of my price range. This is my system. sunfire amp and pre. Lsic center with Ls9s front and Lsfx rears. My dvd /cd is a denon is a 2910, which is awsome. Thanks for the tip on that one. My room is about 15x20 and as always I wish it was bigger. Any help will be useful in making the decision. Thanks

The DLS series are nice subs and will go down lower than their specs. They are very musical because they are tuned to be flat above 30hz. They hit hard and are loud and clean. It will dig down to 18-20hz with minimal loss of output, but distortion comes in play due to their higher tuning point. You won't be disappointed.

Unless you're getting a super deal it should be priced about the same as a SVS PB10. In terms of performance they should be about equal with the nod going to the SVS from 18-30hz for clean output.

JMO, I've heard both and liked them both.

Yup, DLS4000 is formidable. Don't let the 200watts fool you. It may have the same watts as the psw404 but it delivers maybe twice the punch.

it is the box size tune and woofer that makes the differance.
velos are nice svs are nice. unless you get a polk sub with dual drivers stay away from polk.

I agree with the other posts. I just recently (within the past two weeks) blew my psw404 and dont get me wrong it sounded ok not so much for music though. I had it 5 months and had read some negitive reviews about it but bought it anyway. I relplaced it with the velodyne DLS2750R ( I think that is the right model number) This thing ROCKS it gets very low and is very clear and warm. You have to tweak the volume alot but who cares it has its own remote. Thumbs up on the velodyne for me. (if there are any polk police reading this I love my rti10's.)

Been pricing the dls5000r sub,and as always on ebay there are two outfits which are selling it for 629.00. All the retail stores are selling it for 800.00. Has anyone done business with either Inetdistributors or Audio video man. Brand new subs and 175.00 less in price. Just hard to believe.

John S from HTF did an in home A/B test with a SVS PB12 Ultra/2. He's pretty jazzed with how his DLS5000R hung with the velvet brute. Subjectively, he says and the SVS owner agreex that there's not much dif (in that room) from 20hz up, output and tonal quality. One guys opinion, but it sounds pretty interesting, similar quality for a third of the cost. Usually it's the other way around with SVS/high end Velos.

Here it is.

The SVS PB10 will stomp the Velo DLS4000 below 25Hz.
