Hello folks!
First off, thank you for the help on these forums, its been great.

Well, My question today is as follows. I recently purchased a Sub to complete my HT. My HT consists of the following components:

1) Harman Kardon 535 receiver
2) RTi10's for the fronts
3) CSi5 for the Center Channel
4) FXi5 for the two back Surrounds (not going 7.1)
5) PSW505 12" Sub

Will this sub be too big/small for the rest of the HT?
What have been your experiences with the PSW505?
Any other Bass Tips on this configuration will be welcomed.

Its going into a room that is approx 14x20 with a 10x10 secion ( the main sitting/viewing section) having 16' ceeling.

Thank you.

I don't think that the sub being too small will be a problem but definatly not too big. There are other options such as the usual SVS or HSU. The usual way to test configuration is to place in listening position and then play a favorite song and see where the bass is the most accurate.

As long as the sub blends seamlessly with your other speakers than your good. Also mess with phase once you settle on a location. Basically have a friend switch from 0 to 180 and back and forth through another favorite scene or song and listen to see at which setting the bass sounds the best.
For music some people like to level calibrate evenly but for movies some will turn up the bass levels to get a little more oomph from their explosions and darla taps.

Good luck and welcome again

Chris

I to will have a new sub shortly. My question deals with placement. Currently my old sub sits under a table in the corner of a room. I just purchased a Vel DLS 5000 and I was wondering if it needs to be more out in the open. Is this a trial and error thing or do they have a preference on where to be placed. Thanks for all your help, Doug

Try placing the sub in the front left or front right corner of the room if possible. The 505 is a very capable performer down to about 27hz.

I'd keep the vol knob on the 505 to 12 or 1 o'clock.
