Picked up mine this morning as a present for my son, he is going to **** when finds out I got him one, they had cops out at the Best Buy and people were offering 100/150 over purchase price to buy for their kids for Christmas, Sh** was crazy.

My buddy stood in line from 11:30 last night until the local WalMart opened at 7 THIS MORNING. It was cold and rainy. He's insane.

Full systems are selling right now on eBay for 1800+ dollars. So if you have one, you MAY want to consider selling it and waiting a bit liek a normal person :)

I thought about standing in line at the local Walmart last night, just to resell for a profit. They were getting 70-80(40 of one and 30 of the other I think). At 4:30, there were six people in line. They were going to give out tickets at 10:00, then give them out at 12:00 to those who had tickets.

I thought I might have been able to get $100 more for one, but if I had known they might bring 200+ more, I would have definetly wasted my time.

Anyway, I spent time installing a plasma to make money instead.

Just picked up my second XBox360 from Toys R US not as long a line (I had preordred) but people were still hawking them for up to 500.00 for the regular console. I thought about it but thats not my style.

I got this one for my wife's nephew. He is the same age as my son and his mom and dad just went through a really messy divorce. I have seen the pain that this can cause a young child and we thought this would cheer him up greatly during this rough time and knowing that the holiday season is going to be tuff on him. I could have made some money and could probably put it on ebay and make even more, but to see the look on their two faces on Christmas morning will be absolutely PRICELESS

IF I get one, it will be after Christmas or sometime next year. I hate the Christmas rush. :mad: People raise so much hell about crap that will be plentiful a few months later. I waited to get the old Xbox after it went do to $150, and I am in no hurry to be trampled to death by a crowd for a game console. The smart shoppers pre-order, and walk right up to the counter and walk right out with what they want. Be careful out there guys.

My story is not typical I had pre-order in both places and had very little problems getting mine. Their were reported fist fights at the Cosco by me and Circuit City had a full riot as they only recieved 15 unit and of those 15 units they only had 3 of the basic units and the rest were the full blown units, friends of mine went to this Circuit City and were turned away by the police because of the fights, very scary stuff. I was told that their would be no more units sold until after Christmas sometime in Feb. 06, so I would think the demand will be very high through Christmas.

Waiting for another year to see this craze happen all over again when PS3 makes its US debut. People fighting, paying 3-4 times it's retail price when all they have to do is wait a few months when the market is saturated with plenty of units. Besides, watch how many bugs the first crop of units will have.

Build a PC, buy the same games and enjoy better graphics! Besides, you won't have to pay to join X-Box live and whatever Sony has for PS3.

my experience.. (i've heard) that this happens every time these new consoles are released.. people bid insane prices for them.. but they NEVER pay. They think it's a game to see how high they can bid.. with no intentions to ever pay. I bet if you ask most of the sellers who had insane bids on their XBox's, they'd say. the buyer never paid, and they end up relisting it later.

Seriously, why would anyone pay 3K for a $400 item? if it's to good to be true.. it always is..

You're definitely right. I don't doubt a few units went for this much from folks with the money to burn, but by and large these things aren't going to sell for a 200-300% profit margin I still think you can make some decent coin on this, however, if that's your intention.

that's what i wanted from the old xbox. only a limited number of games were widescreen. hated putting black or grey bars to the sides. strectching wasn't an option. gave up on old xbox. alas, could xbox be redeeming itself, in my eyes?...

got it first day been playing it often. I know some people have had some issues mine has ran like a champ. Project Gotham 3, Perfect Dark Zero and call of duty 2 are great and look fantastic if you have an HDTV. I say get one if you can find one within reason.

I played this thing today at Game Stop - a football game...

Man... that was the best looking game I've seen - atleast for Football... EXCELLENT graphics, VERY SMOOTH!

The new controller is AWESOME... so much better than the last one - kind of a mix between the S and Duke... I like the Duke better (over the S) - but this one is MUCH better than the S.

The 360 controller is very easy on the hands and actually fits and the buttons were very well thought out.

The new console looks very good too - FWIW... alot better than I thought it would....

Graphics looks amazing I have only ran it on an HDTV so I cant say about games that aren't running in HD however textures are far superior same as animation and things of that nature, My console has had zero problems and xbox live with halo 2 has worked great same as with the rest of the games I have played. The controller is much improvment even of the S controller. They moved the impossible to use black and white buttons to shoulder buttons instead, MUCH Better idea. I love i play it after I get off work. good times :-D

Halo 2 on the 360 plays in 720p instead of 480p and has fullscreen AA, so it should certainly look better.

AA = Anti-Aliasing. It removes jaggies, which are artifacts that occur when you have a polygon at a diagonal and you see some blocks on the edge... AA smoothes that out. Example from Halo 2, check out the hair on the girls face at this link:

Halo 2 looks pretty good. Very small difference over the one playing through the xbox. Just has a more natural smoothed out look to it. Impressive game nonetheless and playing with the 360 controller is much better. Pick one up if you can...I doubt you couldnt enjoy it.

From what I've read, most of the heat issue is people not giving their power supply (which is a gigantic separate unit) enough space to breathe. IE putting it on a carpet.

There are problems with it, but we'll just have to see how it goes.

My friend's brother flipped his XBox on eBay for $900. He camped out for it and everything, but man, when you already have a system to boot, and you can get over twice what you paid, why not sell it and get it later when it doesn't have problems? I think it'd be pretty lucrative for some.

Me? I'll be waiting for the Revolution, from Nintendo, who hasn't (knock on wood) massively undersupplied the market at release. Although I sincerely wish you XBox fans luck on your search to get an XBox

One other thing, if you do have problems, it looks like MS is very good about fixing the problem, so there is hope,

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Kmart has had an apparent pricing error on the wireless network adapter for the 360 this week, selling it for $49 instead of $99. I picked one up last night. The sticker said $99, but it rang up $49. Sweet!

There are like 200 working xbox games right now.

You need the hard-drive to play them and xbox live because you download specific a specific emulation code for each game. They will add more over time, but it's not clear how many they plan to add.

i've never been one to claim myself to be very moral nor ethical. i'd have bought two or three at the price fireshoes paid. then i'd get some friends in on the deal. at least i wouldn't charge them double the price which would be retail. but if ever i drop my wallet, i hope someone like demi would find it. btw, a dropped wallet with or w/o money i would return to owner.

Wouldn't hold it against you B-Diddy, it's just one of those things that seems...I dunno, petty? The way I see it is this...people make mistakes. Could have very well been some kid or hell, for dramatic effect...a single mother working her 2nd part time job, that needs that job, that made that mistake. If everyone takes advantage of these types of things it can add up and someone could lose their job. I'm not saying buying one little thing like this will cost someone their job, but it all adds up. Too many people look at business as faceless and that ripping them off intentionally doesn't have any effects on anyone.

Yea computers are great. I have a computer I built just for gaming. But I like to play my consoles sometimes because I get to sit on a nice couch in front of a big tv and play it. I mean the PC has some issues maybe be driver issues or people online not with same versions causing problems. I mean a console especially the newer ones offer excellent graphics and gameplay without the headaches of set up. I am well aware of 360's having some problems but mine runs like a champ so all is well for me ha. Some people just want to put a game in and play and not worry whether there graphics card is up to date or any of the other nonsense that sometimes comes with pc gaming.

Sonys PS3 is going to be free online play, but the developers are going to have to setup their own service. This is bad for sony. Xbox live is really incredible.
If you are exclusive to PC or Consoles you are going to miss out on a lot. Heck, even if you play PCs and Consoles but not portables you are going to miss out on a lot. One way or another is fine, but I'm more into video game culture than sound culture, so I gotta have it all.

What do you mean? All titles that sell well on a console get formatted to the PC and vice versa. If you want the most bang for your buck, you're getting it in the PC. By no means do I think that it should mean shying away from a console....because I intend to have them all now. :D The thing I like about the console is that it can be played with more comfort and with a bunch of friends in the same room. The same can't really be said for the PC unless you're playing with friends all over the world or having a LAN party. PC still has the most top notch titles.

Costco's have been getting large shipments in. You might try there. Targets have been getting a handful. I think it is unlikely you will get one at BB unless you are camping Saturday night.

One theory was they put everyone on backorder status, since there are 10,000 ordered, but only 1,500 available. So, they are going to start shipping them tomorrow, and first come first serve to the first 1500, and the
rest? yep, until the next shipment!

Btw, if you are wondering, no, I was not one of the 10,000 buyers within those 5 minutes opening, from this morning. I am still on the fence, waiting for Santa to get me one. Literally!

Yes, you can, and I did, add the hard drive on later to the core unit. There is no functional difference between the premium and the core unit that can't be made up later by purchasing the different hardware accesories (hard drive, wireless controllers, headset, component cables.)

Just a note, taking the core system and upgrading cost a lot more than just dishing out the extra $100 for the premium set. The hard drive alone is $99. I think you end up with $240 worth of add-ons in the premium system for the $100 price bump including a wireless controller instead of the wired ones.

I wish they would hurry up and release all the new gen consoles...

The PS2 being the weakest link in the bunch, and every universal game made is made to play on the weakest console... so the game looks incredibly bad...

So, I must say I cant wait for the PS2 and Gamecube to be retired and forgotten. Then universal games will actually look decent.

Halo 2. Sorry, I don't care that much about graphics to drop 50-60 bones and get gameplay which isn't as good as beating up friends online with this game.

Well, haven't had my damn 360 a week and the damn thing is on its way back to Microsoft. Every game I've played the damn thing just keep freezing up on me. No warning red light, just freezes up. I'll keep you guys posted on what the outcome is on this, just really pisses me off, spend $400 on a game system, it should work with minimal problems. Just thought I'd vent. My manufacture date on the unit was Nov. 11, 2005. Anyone else have to send there 360's back?

So far so good (but I don't want to jinx it). I've been tag team playing COD2 for the past 3 days. It is so fun and the graphics is killer. If I have the luxury of time, I'll probably wait until the supply catch up and price is cooling down a bit. But, it is a TVM situation (Time Value of Money), I am on my vacation for a couple of weeks right now and so does my son (school break). So, it is the right time to own this awesome toy.

I was waiting for HD-DVD as well, but Microsoft offically announced a week or so ago there are no future plans for HD-DVD drives. And if they ever add them it would be for movies only, no impact to games.

Well Target had one XBox 360 system this morning, the $399 version. I honestly don't want any of the games available right now, but man was it hard to pass it up. Stupid credit cards make it so easy, but I resisted. I also saw ads for them this morning so I think the drought is going to be over soon.

Well my buddy at work who modded my first Xbox for me heard that they were going to have a huge shipment of them to all the Walmarts on New Years Eve. Heard that they were to be released at midnight. I was skeptical, but he and his wife went any ways. They scored four of them, Two premiums, and two core systems. He called and asked if I wanted a core system with the 20 gig HD, so like a fool I said yes. I have monkeyed around with it for a few hours, and I really like the menu interface.

But MS has "used" that interface from the hackers that kacked the first XBox. So to me it looks like the program XBox Media Center. But what are the hackers going to do...sue MS...I doubt it. I just wish it had a radio station guide. With XBMC I have the option of listening to over 500 internet radio broadcasts.

So any ways no new games for it, so there is nothing to review.
