Big Dane said we gotta go with dual 15's, aint nobody done that yet on the new Mustangs...

PolkThug

Due to the uneven trunk floor and tight spacing we had to do it this way. Ish made a custom box that is contoured to the floor.

you're doing very good work and the car looks great --- i LOVE the hood.

i do have one complaint thought - the "hallmark" of that new 'stang are the two center grille headlights --- giving it a very retro 60's look. the new fascia installed removed those two big honkin lights and put small ones in more discrete locations... it breaks my heart!!! :(

that sub box does look VERY mean though - two big honkin 15's - its just like DOMINATING the trunk. i'm diggin it.

by the way - the whole theme of htis thread is friggin hilarious - good job!

You dare to question P-Thuggy?!?

The Polk MM2154DVC's have the potential to go deeper than any other Polk subs that are currently available from Polk. DUH!

If Polk wants to send me some SR Sub's that go deeper, that aren't available to the public, I will gladly accept. :D

Why do I own TWO SVS subs?!? Because I can MOTHER[BLEEPERS]!!!

Experimenting with putting Polk tweeters in the lower pods. Boost gauge will go above it on the driver side.

MacLeod
01-04-2006, 09:42 PM
Putting the tweets in the A pillars is a good idea as it will raise and widen your soundstage. However, take care when firing them right at you. They could be a little harsh and it will drastically pull your stage to one side.

Just a thought.

Yeah I'll have to play with the aiming and -3db/-6db switches on the crossover.

Tomorrow, the front struts, springs, sway bar and rear LCA's are going in. I predict smokescreen burnouts tomorrow night, followed by me cracking the front fascia while trying to pull in my driveway.

And, the -3/-6 setting on the crossover may not be enough. Do you have some adjustments on your HU? What are you using for a HU?

So you got rid of the dual lamps in the grill.....

What do you plan on doing with those and the grill?
My dad has an 05 V6 model and he wants some of those lamps.

Thats a nice car though, I dont see many new stangs I like other than his (yellow w/ black stripes) ....I think Id take yours over his though esp. w/ that extra 100 or so hp

Oh well...

Do you have the whole kit or just the front/hood?

Id love to hear those horses first hand getting excited just thinking about it :D

They overhauled an 05 GT on that show....what was it....hmmm..... Overhaulin? Think it had that kit on it w/ several other custom items and a supercharger. It was ok youre doin a better job than they are. They dropped a custom box in the trunk in w/ those square subs whatever they are made me sick to see a sub like that in a car that nice. They were boasting somewhere around 430 hp from the engine, I think youve got that beat :p

This is a first, instead of going with performance robbing dubs, we got ultra lightweight 5Zigen wheels with Nitto rubber. The 5Zigens are finished in Hyper Black, depending on the lighting, they look dark silver or black.

The car is lowered (full Saleen Racecraft/ BMR suspension), but the Nitto Drag Radials are an inch shorter than the stock tires, hence the gap.

(The new Stangs look like 4x4's stock, the gaps are huge)

I've been meaning to ask how well FAT MAT works.

It works good as far as I know. I've never used other products like it, so I have no basis for comparison. They have a nice kit that comes with a roller and a razor (also a degreaser, but my car I didn't need it).

with a higher horse to torque rating i'm assuming the motor is forced induction, right?

The Polk 400.4 is running Polk MMC570's in the doors and will also run some Polk MMC5250 components in the front kickpanels (Still waiting on Q-Logic to release to the public).

Speakers in back deck were removed.

The Polk 300.2 is in bridged mode and will be powering two Polk MM2154DVC.

Currently I just have a pair of 12" Infinity Kappas hooked up for fun. A box for the 15's in still under construction, but I may outsource it, the angles suck on it.

System sounds very clean and clear, no vehicle noise is coming through the Pioneer. Its gonna scream once I get the MMC5250's up front as well.

Slowly, but surely...

deepinya
02-12-2006, 09:51 PM
wow, only 2 amps for all that?

Here I am about to use a 400.4 for mmc6500 and a 300.2 for one 10" sub. lol

All this shit is so confusing.

Man, that is one sweet ride. From the front fascia, to the blower, to the wheels, to the audio...killer! The only thing I would have done, given that I had enough money to trick out a Mustang, is get more torque out of it. But then, I don't know what a reasonable limit is for that engine, so you may be approaching it.

Anyhoo, she looks great...and I know you'll love pulling up to those rice-mobiles at street lights. What'll she do 0-60 and the 1/4 in?

Thanks!

Yesterday at KCIR. 12.734 @ 113.8

Keep in mind, that is torque at the wheels, so that is about 400tq at the flywheel. My number one issue now is traction, I could drift down the whole track. Next purchase will be a line lock so I can properly heat the Nitto's (I didn't want to power brake the car).

audiobliss
02-27-2006, 06:13 PM
Ok, so what's a line lock? And why didn't you want to power brake the car?

Are you happy with your 1/4 time? If not, to what do you attribute the extra time? What are you planning on doing to correct it?

I can see that that much power and torque could cause a problem with traction.

I can see that that much power and torque could cause a problem with traction.

A line lock allows you to engage only the front brakes, so you can do a tire smoking burnout without power braking and ruining your back brakes. This car is also a daily driver.

I'm pretty happy with the time, but there is definitely room for improvement. I ran the 12.734 with a horrible 2.1 60 foot time because of spinning the tires. My goal is to get my tires to stick and get a better 60 foot time. Also, I'm still learning how to drive it. In April I'll be running at Heartland Park on a properly prepped track so it should be interesting.

audiobliss
02-27-2006, 06:49 PM
Hmm. I like the idea of a line lock. Seeing as how this is your DD (an awful nice one!), I assume the line lock can easily be disengaged so the rear brakes can be used at times? That's pretty cool.

I've decided that my next car, assuming my Jeep lasts long enough to ba an all-weather DD for quite a few more years, will be (I hope) a 2000-2002 Trans-Am WS6 or Camaro SS. I would be looking to do with it just what you've done, but I would keep it naturally aspirated.
