i have 2 MM2104's. the question i have is.. is a c300.2 amp powering each woofer TOO much power? i know the continuous RMS of the mm2104 is 300 and its max is 600. but i also heard that the max is just used for selling purposes. will each 10" be able to handle 450x1 from the c300.2's?

Provided you keep the gains and the volume low they will. Still, thats nearly 200 watts over the 2104's limits and could rip em apart so use common sense.

Although I personally dont have any experience with the momo's, the rms power figure is what you want to look at on every subwoofer. The 2104's are rated to handle 300 rms, so you would be overdriving them by about 150 watts. That is what the specs say at least, someone that has some experience with them though should chime in here and let you know wether they actually handle the extra 150 or not, I would say it's possible.

polk subs really don't take to overpowering very well, don't count on them taking that 150 extra... like mac said, keep the gain down and you'll be fine

I would suggest the C500 for two subs.

300.2 is class AB -- better sound quality, better everything -- ya you'll have to turn the gain down a tad, but you'll have plenty of "good juice" for those momo 10's

the 500.1 is fine for two subs as well - BUT... eh... i'm a bastard... it's a little below the rms power rating - while you can always turn an amp DOWN, you can't turn it UP ... you can't get more than it can possible put out. know what i'm sayin?

get a C400.4 for your highs and run the two 300.2's to each of your subs - just dial it back a bit -- they'll take over their rms... not a ton, but 50 w over is probably peachy perfect!

Actually the 500.1 is a perfect match for the 2104's. The 500.1 puts out a little over 600 watts cleanly which would be 300 per sub which would be perfecto! Ya see, this aint Polk's first rodeo. They think of these things. :D

the 500.1 can power two subs? i thought it was only a 1 channel amp? ;/. where does it say that it gives over 600 watts? on the polk site it says 350x1 watts at 4 ohms and 500x1 at 2 ohms.. im confused. ;/

Performance Auto and Sound magazine did a test on that amp last year and it made something like 611 RMS at 2 ohms. I was going to link to their crappy ass website but they dont keep reviews that old.

Polk, like all high end amp brands seriously underrates their amps so you can always be sure youre getting more clean power than youve paid for.

ya but mac he's already got the 300.2's --- and i'm trying to talk the bastard into having all class AB amps... cuz its just snazzier. :P

mac's right - the 500.1 would do you plenty good. no doubt about that... you still could do the 2 300.2's and a 400.4 though ;)
