I've seen this at Radio Shack this past week and was really impressed with the portability, the flexibilty and creativity of the all in one unit.

Webpage for Cinego All in one Projector/DVD/2.1 Speaker/sub (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2104751&cp=2032176)

The price is right, the idea is ingenious, I just wish someone other than Radio Shack was marketing the idea. Why didn't Sony, Microsoft or some other big player do this first?

This unit sacrifices quality in the contrast ratio and probably most notably in the lumens rating (since they don't seem to have it posted anywhere) in order to get the price point to where it's at. I'm willing to bet this thing can only be used when it's pitch black.

I saw it in flourescent lit room today with sun shining in the windows and they had a better picture than I would have thought. It is the equivalent of a boom box with its all-in-one intentions, but maybe the exposure something like this can give will get more people into considering a front projection system for their needs. Like you have.

Congrats on your LCD purchase.

If that's the case then this should definitely fit a market niche somewhere out there. I wonder who the OEM on the projector is? It seems like this is something that would appeal the type of situation where the theatre can't be permanently set up since it would be easy to store in a closet and then set up on a table for a movie; especially since it has the speakers included. Kind of like the old days of 8mm movie and slide projectors :) Like all "all-in-wonders", it doesn't appeal to me with the dvd player built in. with all the heat generated by the bulb, it's just asking for problems down the road....

I see the niche...............dorm rooms, slumber parties, church camps, boyscout campouts, neighborhood movie night in the backyard, team sporting trips, basically anytime that large groups need to view video and a conventional TV is too big and bulky. Throw a sheet up on the wall and enjoy.

The portability of it is more important than the quality, since most that want a permanent pj will go the installed route.

I see it priced right, but the idea probably won't catch on until they are $500 or less.
