Video cables for 5.1 audio?

Can I use video cables for analog 5.1 hookup from my dvd player to my receiver? I'm using the Acoustic Research cables I picked up for cheap. The video cables are a little thicker than the audio cables. Will that make any difference or am I better off using the audio cables? Thanks.

It'll work fine- going the other way (audio for video) won't always work, though. As for quality, you'll have to judge that for yourself.
