Anybody into Americas Army? I've been playing it for just a little while now, and I like it pretty good. I've passed all the training except the SF E and E. I've used GameSpy and XFire to browse servers, and so far XFire is my favorite. It also allows you to download files.
I think I originally downloaded it for free from gigex.com. (or gigexdownloads.com) If you're going to get it, just make sure you get V2.5.0 as that's the newest one.
EDIT - Oh, and my s/n name for AA (and GameSpy and XFire) is Axle427.

May I assume from the lack of responses that no one here plays AA?

I've never heard of it, but then again I haven't been paying much attention to the new games that have come out.

Ok, I'm reviving this. Anyone playing AmericasArmy? I got bored a few days ago, saw AA was still installed on my computer, and now I'm back into it again. I'm still not really any good at it, but I have been taking it more seriously this time around, trying to learn and do better, etc. and it's pait of a bit.
I'm currently trying to download the new V2.7.0, but I think I need a faster computer to run it well. I probably really only need more memory and a dedicated video card, but I'll just go with 'new computer'. :D

Holy cow...I just realized...if I had waited until tomorrow to post this...it would have been exactly one year since the last post. How interesting.

I played for a while also but am a big DoD fan. I suppose I can install it again and give it a whirl

What's DoD?
I guess the main reason I like AA...it's free! :D

How good of a PC do you need?
And, is there a mac port?

I don't think you need a really nice PC, by any means. My desktop is a 3 year old (I think) Compaq, and it only acts up on a few maps; not really enough to warrant building a new one besides the fact I just want to. To give you somewhat of an idea of what I'm running with, here's the specs on my desktop:
Compaq SR1050NX:
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
512MB ram
and then lousy on-board video and sound cards
So I can't imagine the program is that demanding. However, since it's online play, you should have a fast internet connection.
The program (V.2.7.0) is 2.5GB, but I've just been reading today about all kinds of bugs in the new version; not sure if they've been worked out or not.
Looking through trying to download the new version, I did run across a version for linux and mac. Lemme see real quick if I can find them again.

Here you go. This is where I saw a link to it for Mac.
http://www.3dgamers.com/games/americasarmy/downloads/
Here's the main website for the program, the forum, and then a neat website I've found that will track all your info for you. For example, there's a link to all my stats:
www.americasarmy.com
www.forum.americasarmy.com
www.aaotracker.com

Do you know if the Mac version's online goes through gameranger, or can we play with Pc's too?

I have no idea about that. I'm Mac illiterate.
With the PC version, we all use PunkBuster. I don't even know if that's the same thing as gameranger, though.
I can use Xfire and GameSpy to search servers. Is that what gameranger is?

I just installed and played a few rounds with the new 2.7.0. Not sure if I like it or not. It's different, and a good bit more convoluted. I'm going to play around with it some more, but I may end up installing my old 2.5.0, since I still have the download on my computer.

I played AA last year for a little while, but switched off after about a month.
There are some good parts to it, and some bad parts. I like the idea of having dedicated medics, but some of the combat is a little bizarre.
