I've got a 'car' question, kinda seems like the 'On the Move' section should have a 'General Auto' sub forum, no?

A place to talk shop regarding wheels and tires, suspension mods, body work, fuel systems etc.....

Thoughts? Keep it all in the clubhouse?

I like the idea. I'm not so much a car-audio nut as just a car nut. I love to "talk" cars.

I don't know how great of an idea this is.

You people will argue about absolutly everything and this just offers another place for more fighting fodder and misinformation to spread because nobody researches thier arguments. They go on what they think they know and everyone gets all flustered and pissed off because no one is right and everyone refuses to see the other side in any way other than wrong. Even if it is right.

Then they all call each other big meanies and such and it degrades from there. These people can't even talk about audio and keep it civil and now we want to introduce cars? I have never seen arguments get more ugly, knock-down, drag-out brawls than silly bull**** over cars fueled by ignorance and blind brand allegiance...it borders on brand bigotry much of the time.

If this is wanted, I won't stand in the way but I can feel my "hated by everyone" and "big meanie" status increasing already and the forum doesn't even exist.

faster100
12-16-2005, 08:06 AM
JOHN, and i mean this in the most civil way (after all its the holidays)

your one of the number one ring leaders who start the big brawls, because although i'l admit it seems you know about cars/trucks.. you can't possibly know everything and because you know about cars/trucks doesnt mean what other people experience is less then the truth or fact. Like our little thing, if i say something say like putting a V-8 in an S-10, your first smart ass comment is, Yeah put 400lbs on the front of an already heavy truck!!

Not "well although that would be cool, maybe he should try this or that"..

Keep it civil and so many people wouldnt start a big fight with you or anyone else, and yes i havent kept it civil either.. but we should!

cmy330go
12-16-2005, 01:13 PM

Skynut
12-16-2005, 04:14 PM
It is all in the phrasing of the question.
When using this "No, just use the Clubhouse and get over yourself, putz!" as an option it just make it too tempting to say no just for fun.

I say yes, how do I change my vote.

Yeah i also think it would be great idea. I need to learn where my radatior cap goes.

That reminds me of a drivers ed incident. Our teacher thought he would show the class how to change oil. We were almost done with the demonstration when he was paged for a phone call. He asked one of the students if he could finish by adding the new oil. As soon as the teacher was gone we were all off doing something else while the "privileged" student finished the job. Upon return he found about 3 quarts 5w30 in his radiator. We all found it very amusing!!! He sure didn't though. :D

I'd go for a general auto forum. Hell, I worked in that field for 15 years. Moved to the top and got bored with it all. Then went turning wrenches for a drag racing team. After 4 years of that I got tired of building engines between events while riding in the trailer down the interstate....LOL. Restored several pre 70's camaros...raced several cars in multi brackets....Still street racing now (damn kids and their rice burners and daddy's money mustangs)...and got my ass in line for the new concept camaro DEI prepped. Hell fire my 15 year old son knows more about cars than most of the idiots I outrun on the weekends. And his 1964 Nova SS 327 4 spd is gonna be a killer when he gets his license next Feb. Thats as soon as we drop a 520ci screamer in it. I hope his mom can afford the gas....LMAO!!!

I like auto forums as much as the next guy. I just don't think it would serve us well as an audio company. The web is so flooded with general automtive forums that I think it's better left alone. Also, we would need someone with automotive knowledge, beside me...I'm busy enough, to moderate it. One or two questions here and there doesn't hurt, just don't overdo it.

PoweredByDodge

Hey, here's an idea, if you are not interested in an automotive forum, just don't go there. It's not like someone is holding a gun to your head and making you read it. There are a lot of the forums here that I personally have no interest in and I just don't read them.

ooh... i'll admit, the 600 series is pretty, and the armoured bmws are kinda neat, but other than that... too generic to be 'the best'... it's like porsche... no way would i turn one down if i were offered a good price, but with the exception of the carrera gt or the cayenne transsyberia, there's just too damn many of them on the road

more generally, though, what is 'best'?

oh, and to stay on point, i vote for an automotive forum, if i didn't when this thread first came to life...

I'm thinking this is in the wrong forum, but....

I think you need to power supply which you can power the radio with. Here in the states we can get a 12vdc power supply that we can plug into 120vac 60hz. I would think you could buy something like that for 240vac in Australia. The current is important you will need 5 amps or better don't try it with anything smaller. I'm cautioning you on using a car battery charger as these are very dirty and not very accurate as to output voltage. Read will hurt radio and or cause you audio issues.

On second thought this should be moved IMHO
