Any of you guys know how large(microfarads) the filter caps are in the Denon AVR-3805? Just curious.
Cheers

Take the top off and have a look see. I know...a pain in the ass if it's in a rack. :D

I personally don't have one to look at, but I was hoping one of you might know. Been thinking about acquiring either a 3805 or maybe an Outlaw 1070.

Try joining the DIY audio forum DIYAUDIO.COM and see if anyone there might know. Call Denon or perhaps search on-line for a manual. There are lots of 3805's on this forum but I guess know one can answer your question.
While cap size is an indicator of power reserves in a receiver it really won't make that much difference in a receiver. There are many other areas that are more important than cap size. But, I understand you being curious about it.

My guess is around 15-18000 uF apiece, but they look like they may be just a tad larger than that. Just something I'd like to know. I'll find an answer.

Denon did get back to me. The caps are rated at 15000 uF 71V. Not to shabby, but the 1070 doubles that I think (4x15000) for a more robust reserve.

Not to side track this thread... but i just got my 3805 from Opus, and Boy oh boy... its a beauty!!! Its my first ever AVR and i couldn't be happier!!! Just got the DVD and TV hooked up, and popped in the matrix. Sounds great!! (Even if i only have RTi8's so far for speakers!!! Ha)
This is fun.

After reading around about the Pioneer VSX-1015TX and discovering the excellent power supply (rivalling the 3805) it has, I decided to go for it instead. It has the same size caps as the 3805 and a pretty hefty transformer to boot. Not bad for 1/2 the price of the 3805. The Mosfet amp sounds warm with my RT7s, CSi30 and surrounds.
Cheers!
