I sometimes get a buzz in my surround spks, What I found out is when I plug in my projector, not turned on, just plugged in thats what causes the buzz. After watching a movie, its not there anymore. I checked the wiring. no loose grounds, it check out okay! Wonder what it is? The plug for the projector is a outlet on the ceiling that was for a garage door opener. Also its part of a ground fault circuit. thanks

Also its part of a ground fault circuit.

First off, I'd eliminate that GFCI and see what happens. They're noisy. Is it a breaker? Should be easy to change, regardless.

Do your speaker wires run anywhere near the electrical wire in the ceiling or attic? If so, you may have interferance from it. Also, is the power wire for the projector on the same circuit as the plug for your other electronics. I don't know if any of these will help, just trying to talk it through with you.

Thanks everyone, I hate gfci plugs, they never trip when they should. The surround spks wire is far away from the electrical wire. I have always had trouble with buzz-hum, it seems to come & go. Im not a electrical engineer but I know a little about electric wiring. Ive checked the outside ground everything that I can think of. What has helped is a ground wire from my pre-pro to my Panamax power center, hum is almost gone. I wonder if a ground wire from my projecter to the plug would help?

Just for the hell of it, power your system down and then flip your HT breaker(s) a dozen times or so. Ditto for GFCI.

Then power up and see if there's been any change.
