How to wire a JBL PC sub to a different brand set of PC speakers

Good morning, I came across this forum while searching for wiring tutorials for PC speakers and such and as simple as they are I need some guidance in connecting these speakers together so that I can use them with my laptop. So here it goes, First of all I have a JBL sub that I got for free and two pairs of normal PC speakers and basically I need to figure out what kind of wires I need to buy to connect them all together. I have the two satelite speakers wired together and they work fine but then I have this sub with these connection points on the back:

Imput One (green bar) Imput Two (no bar) Speaker Out (red bar) w/6pin female imput

I just need to know how and with what wires to connect these all together, at radioshack yesterday, they told me something about I couldn't do it because the 6 pin female imput was a "JBL specific" thing and that most normal subs don't have that. What has really got me confused is that my boston accoustic sub for my normal PC only has "control out" and "digital in" imputs.

I'm certainly not an expert on PC speakers, but I'm going to have to agree with the RadioShack guy: I won't go so far as to say you CAN'T do it, but it's not going to be easy and probably not worth the effort.

The problem is that without knowing more about the sub you've got and the speaker system that it was designed to work with, it's hard to say what you need to do. Those connections on the back don't really tell you much. You see, most PC subs are designed with amps built in them that drive not only the woofer, but also the regular left and right (center, surround, etc., depending on what you've got). They're different than most regular home audio subs, because they're designed as part of a system. That's why you have that oddball 6-pin connector. You've got two inputs. We don't know if those are front L/R, center, rear, whatever.

Again, I won't say it CAN'T be made to work, but you'd probably have to take it apart and trace wiring, and/or rewire it, and even then it's unlikely that it would sound good because it wouldn't be functioning "as designed".

That's probably not what you wanted to hear, but that's what I think.
