Just got done watching / listening to "Saving Private Ryan" thinking how good the surround sound was in the movie. Decided to get online, get on this forum and was looking at my Polk monitor 30s hanging around me. Then the thought hit me, why is the tweeter below the mid-range? Most speakers I've seen are the other way around, at least the ones I remember seeing. Is there any advantage in this design? Just a thought, wondered if anybody else has thought about this as well. Anybody got an answer for a curious mind?

I too have the Monitor 30s (and love them). I think part of the reason why the tweeter is on the bottom is because every other speaker in the Monitor series has a woofer above the tweeter as well. As for possible advantages, I would think that when used as surround speakers, the tweeter closer to ear level and therefore high frequencies are more noticeable. I could be wrong though :) Every time i look at them i feel like i accidentaly mounted them upside down haha.
