I bought a few dvd-a and sacd cd's but can't seem to get them to play in 5.1. No sub, center or surrounds.Only fronts play. I read the denon 2900 and the yamaha rx-v2500 manual and I think I have everything set right soo any suggestions.

I'm not trying to be funny, since I had the same problems! I just didn't know any better!

1. Go into your Denon & make sure you have it set up for surround sound.
2. make sure you have ALL interconnects hooked up from DVD to reciever for SACD/DVD playback.
3. Make sure you switch over to EXT mode on your reciever to get full play back on SACD/DVD's.

Report back with results!!!

So you have set the 2900 to multi-channel in the menu? Did you move the knob on the front for SACD to stereo? The Yammie needs to be set to accept the signal from the multi-channel inputs.

yes, working very nicely. Thanks.

I am enjoying Natalie Merchant now and later tonight i will play Faith Hill and then the Doors to finish up my listening pleasure. Ohh ya, tomarrow I will try a Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas.
Then I will look for 4 or 5 more cd's. At least one more Christmas cd(country singer or an older singer). Probability from acoustic sounds. Were are you buying your sacd and dvd-a's from?

Only fronts play.

As it should be since that's where the music comes from in real life.

I have heard some nice things about the Tabernacle Choir disc. What my fine friend F1nut alludes to is a phenomenom where-by many start out in high-rez multi-channel and then gravitate back to 2ch high rez. Sometimes this is not the case, however, I am certainly a 2 ch high rez. fan. If you want to hear the diff. on the 2900 you can use that knob on the front to defeat the menu setting and listen to the disc both ways.

As for where to get them, first off, you can join www.yourmusic.com for 5.99 a disc they have a selection of about 50 SACD all Hybrid. Just type sacd and do a search on artist. I also have bought them online from Circuit City, Best Buy, Tower Records, Mobile Fidelity, MusicDirect to name a few.

I believe Tower Records still has them in store if you have one near you.

Enjoy the music

RT.......I think you have to do the search by album title and put in a space prior to typing in SACD.

But you are right in the fact that 5.99 is a hell of a deal. I have got at least 20 thus far, and have all the rest in my Q.....

ok, I will give them a look. As to two channel I will listen to both ways. The four cd's I mentioned were my first high def. cd's.

do you have your Denon hooked up to your Yamaha with 6 RCA cables, for multi channel audio? that's what's needed for DVD-a and SACD to play the hi rez audio tracks. if you use a optical or coax cable.. it will usually play the dolby digital PCM track. and not the highest resolution tracks.

Just FYI

enjoy.
