recently I hooked up my sub the polk way , with the speaker wire going to the sub then to my mains, and I decided to hook the sub pre out from my AVR back to the sub to see if I could tell an difference and left the wires still going to the sub and it seems to be working o.k. but will this damage any thing as far as the sub , the mains, or my AVR?

dunno, but i wonder which input takes precedence on your sub's amp.

not sure, but the sub controls from the AVR seem to be working as far as the level controls, not sure about the cross over though

I bought a velodyne sub and in specifically told me in the manual not to hook it up this way, only one or the other
