Just joined ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts) for the 1st time. First event will be at Six Flags Over Texas in three weeks. It's appropriately named "Winterfest".
I've done coaster tours the past two years. Another is planned for this year that will put me well over the 100 mark in coasters ridden.

That sounds like a blast!
I've always loved coasters, but don't really ride them enough to call myself a fanatic.

You guys should check out Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 =p
I'm not even a big fan of that type of game and I played that one for quite a while. Get to create your own coasters...pretty fun!

i'm a total pussy when it comes to Rollercoaster rides.
Never been on one with a loop- Space Mountain & Scooby Doo (Carowinds) are the roughest ones i've been on.
let the flaming commence... =)

This one buy far is the coolest. When they take you to the top and hang you over the edge for a couple seconds the release.. Even better after a few beers :)

For creating virtual coasters you can "ride", NoLimits (http://www.nolimitscoaster.com/) is the software to own. More than a game, it's actual coaster design software. The free download has most of the features, but you can't save tracks you create or ride other designs you download.
aa, no flaming... just not your thing.
spb,
SheiKra just earned the 10th spot in the latest steel coaster poll (http://www.ushsho.com/detailedsteelrollercoasterpollresults2005.htm).

What's the new coaster they are building at SF over GA? The thing is a BEAST. It towers above the trees and other coasters already at the park. It is literally almost straight down, at least on the biggest hill you can see from I-20.

One of these days, Steve. Couple of Universal Studios coasters I will get to as well as the Dania Beach Hurricane. What's the new coaster they are building at SF over GA? It's named Goliath (http://www.sixflags.com/parks/overgeorgia/ParkPress/GOLIATH_A.html).
There are a slew of new, potentially world class coasters coming on-line in 2006.

You're welcome, but here's the new one at the top of my list for '06...
Holiday World's The Voyage (http://www.holidayworld.com/voyage_video.html). It's being billed as the world's top air-time coaster.

Wood, I never really got into wood over steel coasters. What can you say about wood over steel?

OK... treated wood... :D
Actually many of the new generation are going steel supported wood track... Of course this combo was used in the construction of what is probably the world's most famous coaster in operation, The Coney Island Cyclone.
Wood's just what I grew up on... It has a sound and a feel that no steel can match. In large part the feel comes from the "give" of the structure.
On the other hand, steel can do more tricks... go higher, faster, etc.

I couldn't ride a Rollercoaster, i'd blow chunks everywhere. I have an incredible fear of heights. :o I stick with the Tilt-a-Whirl.
