Cool, thanks for the heads-up. I just picked up a pair of R15s when they were on sale a litlle while back.

I like the R15s for the money, and am curious about the R30s.

Anyone have any comments on how these sound in general or vs. the R15s?

If they sound similar to the R15s, but with a beefier low end, I think I'll be all over a pair at that sale price.

i have a set of the r30's and they sound pretty good. you will need a sub with them though. they obviously have a little more low end than the r15's. i would recommend them. for $80 for the pair you can't go wrong with these speakers.

They don't make money selling them that low they lose money....they put them on sale to get the customer in the store. They hope their salesmen can show them the Rti or the Lsi series...or sell them accessories(stands, wires, extended warranty).

Keep an eye on the R50's, too. Usually they drop one of the R series at a time, cycle through them, then wait a while and do it again. Don't quite know what their mentality is, but I also don't care as long as they keep doing it.

I can't imagine how good these R15s could sound since they only utilize a first order 6db/octave crossover. I may have to snag a pair just to find out.

I bought the R15s at $40 / pair. I'd like to see somebody find a better new, out of the box speaker for $40 / pair. Please post it here if you find it, I'll go get some.

Regarding R15s - for casual, background music listening, I'm very happy with them for $53 shipped. For this application, in my opinion, they're far from terrible. I actually quite enjoy them for this application.

Would I use them for serious listening at high volumes? No way, that's beyond their capabilities. Push them too hard, and they will compress and distort. Also, their tweeter is not very resolving. Still, we're talking about entry-level $130 speakers that can be had for around $50, so I'm not complaining at all.
