Is there a silk-dome tweeter replacement for the CS-400i for a better timbre match to the RTi speakers?

Part # RD6514-3 is a drop-in silk dome replacement for the tri-lam tweeter in the CS400i.

They dont have a replacement for the Tri-Lam, they send the owners the Silk from the RTixx (Rti70) line...

That's great news! Now, the next obvious question - has anyone tried it and how does it sound?

Haven't tried it, but you should be concerned about matching with the other speakers. If you have tri-lams in all of the other speakers, the silk will not blend as well, but if as you say, you are trying to blend with the newer RTixxx speakers, you SHOULD get a better blend since they are the same tweeter.

I have. Actually there is little difference in sound between the two. For a period of time I had one silk and one trilam in my RT55is. For HT duty any difference was not discerenible. I now I actually have the silks in my front RT55is and the trilam in my CS400i and I can't tell a difference in timbre across the front during movies. I wouldn't know about music as the CS400i is never used for music. If it were me...I probably wouldn't go to the expense of replacing the tweeter in the CS400i since the single tweeter is $70± and I doubt you will be able to tell the difference.

Maybe your best option would be to sell the CS400i and buy a CSi40...like the one in this Flea Market thread:

You might be able to end up with less cash out than buying a new tweeter.

I think your right. Thanks for the help! I probably won't snare this one, I may just bit the big one and get the CSi-5.
