ATI 2505 amp - 12V trigger question

Looks like this amp will be heading my way soon.

It has a 12V trigger for Auto on/off, but my Denon 3802 does not have a "trigger". The receiver does have a switched AC outlet.

So here is my question, has anybody seen a 12V trigger device that is activated by an AC outlet.

Or is there anything out there to help me?

I am aware of the Monster Cable power strips with programable or delayed outlets, but this amp requires a 20 amp circuit.

I have just the company for you.............Niles.Ac3 is what you will want,it will switch on your amp when you turn on your receiver.
You could very well use a Monstercable hts series surge/ line protector.Its the best way to go as it can do multible functions.
You might want a HtS 5100 or a hts5000 if there are any left anywhere(the hts500 is disco,might get a good deal on one)

Hi:

You should be able to plug the 12V trigger from your amp into the back of the receivers AC outlet, leave the amp off, then the receiver should turn the amp on. That is what the trigger is for, to allow another component to power it on and off. When you turn on your receiver the trigger lead to the amp closes a switching relay in the amp and applies power to the amp. When you turn off your receiver it opens shutting down the amp. I have my Monster power center trigger plugged into my Denon 4802, so when I turn on the receiver it turns on everything. Works great.

Like I said I don't even have the amp yet, so I am still dumb to the 12V trigger set up, I assumed the Receiver needed a 12V trigger "output or something that matched the 12V trigger input at the amp.

Is there a link you can provide for the Niles AC3, I have not come up with it yet.

Can you explain a little further please, does the 12V trigger have an AC plug on the end of it, to be plugged into the receivers AC outlets (switched) or is this a special plug. The Denon 3802 does not have a 12V output that I can see.

On my Parasound setup. The Pre/pro uses (2) 3.5 mm mini plugs for 12V triggers. You hook one into the Pre/pro and the other end should be split into 2 stripped wires which screws down on the +/-12v trigger on the amplifier. I then go to the software munu and tell it to activate the trigger when the system is powered on. The trigger on the amp is not a 120v power switch that can be plugged into a moster power for remote turn on. You must use either a Pre/Pro that has it built in 12v trig or use the niles system. 12v trigs can also be used to dim the lights and activate a movie screen.

I described to you how my setup works. Wait until you get the amp and read the instructions. I am sure they will tell you how to connect it. You 3802 should have some AC outlets on your Denon 3802.

What he said - don't do that. The 12 volt trigger is, er, 12 volts (not 120). They are usually just simple mini-plugs (mono jacks) because they just send a 12 volt "jolt / blip" down the wire to the amp which activates a simple on/off trigger. Used to be able to pick them (the mini-plug-cable) up at Radio Shack but always better to read the directions. Seems like I remember a thread here that mentioned a few AC outlet to 12 volt triggers which are really nothing more than slightly modified wall warts. You might do a forum search on "trigger" and ignore the results about Roy Rogers and horses.

plug 12v wallwart into switched outlet. wallwart output goes into 12v trigger input. Done.
