I once again want to upgrade, going to sell off my bedroom rig completely ,do to nonuse, and Im going to get rid of my amp,and pre in my main rig and move into something newer, and hopefully better.I was originally thinking of Rotel,or Parasound, but I am now thinking about some Odyssey gear.I know somebody in here has a Stratos amp and maybe a preamp too, wanting to hear your thoughts, reviews are good, want to hear some acutal testimony.

I believe Dennis Gardner has the amp and William Waldecker has the pre.

I had the Stratos. Nice pice of gear -- clean, powerful, musical. Very highly rated, so no problems there. It's heavy and HUGE, so you'll need lots of rack space. I moved it from my 2-channel system to HT duty because I got into tube gear. If you buy a used one, make sure it has the upgraded caps.

FWIW, I eventually traded mine for an ATI 1502. It sounded as good as the Stratos, IMO, for half the price on the used market. The Stratos hits harder, though. We're just talkin' preferences here.

Not to hijack this thread, but ever notice how everybody here is a total whore for some brand of gear? Me, Bryston; Walldecker, Oddessy; Sid, Def Tech's; everybody else, SVS; etc....

I had the Khartago for a brief period of time. Considering its retail of $750 I was astounded with the build quality, let alone the sound that came out of the thing. For a traditional solid state amplifier, it has to be one of my favorites at its given price point.

I could listen for hours without any fatigue - even at volumes around the 80 db mark in ultra near field conditions. The Khartago took good control over the drivers and gave quick and tuneful bass, a great clean mid range and a sweet high end. My only complaint against the amplifier was that while clean and powerful and had no real sin's from the audio babble stand-point - - it was not the most emotionally engaging amplifier I've heard. The sound seemed to be limited to the speakers and not beyond. Sure, you could tap your foot - but not to anything real organic sounding.

I paired mine directly to a pair of Dynaudio Focus 110's and Totem Acoustic Sttaf - no pre in the mix. Perhaps a good pre in the mix would solve that issue.

No, it wasn't the most musically engaging piece I've encountered by any stretch of the imagination - but it did oh so much right.

 wtf does that mean?
