What Receiver matched with RTi10s?

Overall, the sound is okay but I think my receiver is holding me back. Any suggestions? I've heard good things about Yamaha and HK.

In my limited opinion, an amp would serve you much better than purchasing a new receiver. The nice thing about investing in a good powerful amp is that you will not have to worry about having enough power to push your speakers, you relieve your receiver from having to strain to push your speakers, and this investment is something that will not need to be upgraded as often as the speakers and other audio equipment.

When I purchased my amp, it made a world of difference in my system and literally opened up my entire sound stage.

Depending on your budget, I agree a nicer amp would be a great start. However, if you want great sound and the simplicity of one component, I would look at receivers from B&K, Rotel, Marantz (SR8500 or above), NAD, Primare, Lexicon, etc. These are all going to be between $2000 and $5000, mind you. Again, whatever your budget allows.

I have the Harman kardon AVR 635 and it has PLENTY of power and sounds sooo good with this polk gear. I have almost the same setup as you and could not be happier. A 635 would cost you around 600$-$650 I NEVER turn it up Below 20 its just too loud so if you look at an amps curve for distortion ploted against output you will find that the louder it is the less distortion there will be untill you get to about 10 and then the distortion starts to take over. Its your money. Another side note having an external amp will generate more heat most likely and if that could be a problem with keeping your room cool then you need to consider it.

RTi Speakers....Ok ... For one of the BEST brands of speakers in the whole world, you need a best receivers brands in the world....it's hard? YES :(

Mmmm...hard to choose??? Listen every careful each brand, and decide yourself with the company of your ears :)

The only ones listed above I would ever consider powering a set of RTi10s with would be Marantz or Harmon Kardon. However, an amp will prove infinitely more beneficial, as I believe you have already come to accept.

For me, the Yamaha is better to watch movies than Harman Kardon...(for the configurations, options, etc)

Yesterday, I tried the top end of line DSP-Z9 (made in japan - really gold terminals) with Boston speakers and LSi speakers....

JUST AWESOME .. never heard anything similar. :):):)

If you're going to get a seperate amplifier, don't pay too much for the receiver. You're just going to use it as a preamp. But do make sure it has preouts.

Might want to check out the Crown XLS 402 that everone is raving about over at the avsforum. They can be had for about $250, and from the sounds of it they will make your RTi10's sound darn good(understatment)!
