I worked at Radio Shack in the summers during college. I used to sell the S@%t out of their Optimus (aka Pioneer) recievers and the speakers with the 12" or 15" drivers. I seem to have demo'd them well for people or something, but I always felt a little guilty making the sale. You've got questions, I've got answers. Oh yea....never could bring myself to sell one of their subs. Didn't even try....too crappy.

are you talking about those PA-type radio shack speakers with the red surrounds on the woofers? If so, we have those setup in the computers labs over at school so the instructor can be heard better. I actually prefer him to talk without a microphone because thats the only way i can understand anything, even though i sit in the back row. Man they sure suck.

the LX5's actually make great budget surround speakers. I was a big fan of the Lineaum tweeters for dipole surround back in the day of Pro-Logic. Stereophile gave them a positive review.

But yeah their original $300/pair asking price is downright silly. Prob. worth no more than $50/pair now.

actually my parents have the BOSE w.radio in their kitchen and it sounds great for what it is.

The problem is that it sells for $500 when it should be around 1benjamin tops.

No, not the PA speakers. I can't remember what they were called and it was 10 years ago, so my memory is a little foggy. Do you remember when they sold separate drivers? My friend build a big pair of speakers using their 18" woofers, a 5" midrange and their horn tweeter. Boy did they sound like crap.
