The link is to the car I own. This morning I walked out of the house only to find my car on blocks and NO WHEELS. Major bummer.

Any advice will be appreciated on how to handle this mess.

Call the police and your insurance company.

just my hoops. Now the question is what wheel should I go for? I'll stick with the factory equipped Eagle tire. I figure tires alone will be a grand. Wheel are a different story.

Sweet, sweet car, for sure. Bummer about the robbery. It's sad people feel the need to do that.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you Henry! I hope something can be done to catch the thieves.

Get cheap rims, buy a Remington 870 12 gauge and a tilt alarm....

02-14-2006, 11:21 AM
are those mags really in demand? They probably fit ALOT of chevy products, so they might be, hence why they are stolen. something like that? seems like that was something the thieves were purposefully hunting for, not stealing for Sh%ts and giggles.

a lock nut on each tire might prevent this in the future. foolproof? hell no, but makes it a major pain in the ass to steal.

might get them for my Volvo now, since you got me paranoid :D

Dude, that sucks. A few weeks back, this guy parked his jeep he had for sale by a big intersection on my way to work- good spot for a bunch of people to see it... but don't leave it out there all the time! A few days later, I'm on my way home and someone has taken all the tires - they only used two jack stands, and it was sitting on its rear brake discs... That's just wrong.

My truck was stolen and the thieves could not get the last locking lugnut off so they only got three wheels. I was stoked they only got three but they effed up my truck getting them.

The second time they took it I never saw it again. BASTARDS.

Sorry to hear about yours, it sucks big time. That feeling when you first see it and think "No way?"

Way.

It sucks.

I still have these Vault wheels (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35036) I am going to be putting them on Craigs list as soon as I get off my lazy ass and do it.

Oh yeah, I use a full set of Gorilla Locking Lug Nuts. Nice $45 investment. Sorry to hear about your loss.

That happened to me once. Not a good feeling. It also happened to our company truck a long time ago. Get this, someone stole my neighbors tailgate one night. I use those locking lugs now. Locked gas cap too since the locking lugs might piss off the would be theives.

I know several car dealers around town, and they have always told me that cars are worth more stock, no aftermarket wheels, radios, anything, atleast as far as trade in value that is, but I guess that could be just there opinion ;)

probably depends on what the after makerket stuff is. there is definitly (at least in my eyes) a way to do aftermarket right, and a way to do it wrong) its like spice. I love salt and pepper, but too much? blyech!!!

if the car looks gaudy, people aint gonna buy it off the lot. hence, lower resale value.

sorry for the thread derail. I was thinking, those rims would probably fit many GM vehicles, including trucks. if they were like 18's, I can see why they are in demand, and hence stolen. LOts of GM vehicles out there.

anyway though, it sux

Henry,

Major bummer! Call the police and file a report, then call your insurance company.

That sucks! Police and insurance first. Then go shopping. Hopefully insurance will cover most of the replacement cost (maybe even a rental since you can't drive the thing at the moment).

Now you have the chance to add a little uniqueness to your ride. You may be able to get some crappy steel rims and used tires at a local tire shop until you find something you really like. (try tirerack.com, they have a nice selection at a good price [got my snows there a few years back. $400 with rims, shipped]).

Thanks Pablo and I found the tire rack site this morning. There is a real cool factor on that site!

That sucks!Get a police case number and call your insurance. Make sure that your front yard and back yard are well lit at night and free from any bushes or things that can hide this kind of activity. Motion lights are good.....German Shepherds are good too! sorry this happened to you :(

Low life BASTARDS! Hope they didn't damage anything else on your car gettin' 'em off.

One of the reasons I love runnin' around in my "beater". No one would want to be seen near the damn thing.

Looks like a good way to cut down your fuel bill.

But on a serious note sorry about your mis-fortune,I didn't think people would risk losing their life for a set of wheels and tires.

At least they didn't drop it on the rotors.
Nice looking house.
You know those two big doors on the front? If you put the car on the other side of them it might make them work alittle harder next time. :D

Sorry bro that really sux.

Theives hardly ever steel just the wheels and tires anymore since it takes longer to get them off than it does to steal the whole car (gone in 60 seconds).

GM vehicles used to come with wheel locks as standard equipment. I used to work for Goodyear and there are wheel lock removal kits but it'd be hard to imagine someone using it without making a TON of NOISE. Vise Grips work pretty good too.

You're dealing with amatures here - maybe kids. Be happy that the rest of your car is still there.

+ 1 for tirerack.com BTW

You know how they do that, right? Slide the blocks under, let the air out of the tires and pull off the wheels. No muss, no fuss, and very fast.

They are local to your area and knew you had enough pavers, otherwise too much risk.

Henry:

That has got to piss you off something fierce! Right there in your driveway!

Scumbag lowlife shitballs!

If there is anything to ease the pain, be thankful it was a clean job and the car is right there.

Time to clean the garage and use it for what it was made for (no belly shot intended).

madmaxThey still have to get the lug nuts off. Unless they are a NASCAR pit crew it still takes less time to steal the whole car than it does to slide the blocks under the car, let the air out of the tires, and pull the wheels off. Have you ever let the air out of a car tire? It isn't exactly quiet if you want to do it quickly - remove the valve stem and it howls like a banshee. Time is a thief's worst enemy and doing it quietly takes longer. Just my $.02

Sorry for your loss hb but look at it this way - it could've been much worse.

BTW, check to make sure your radio and other electronics still works before filing your claim. It is standard practice to inject a high voltage pulse into your antenna to defeat your alarm system and any sort of alerting device you my have installed. Not that I know anything about this stuff... :)
