well, on a positive note, you won't need to dust it...kitty hooked you up.
What you're witnessing here is called "animal synergy" kitty is comfortable with your purchase, thats a good sign.

hey, I'd rather her sleep on the pre/pro then scratch the Carver Amazing drivers (since been replaced). This is her new hangout since I banned her from my basement.
If anyone remembers the tale, this is the cat that climbed on the carvers, scratching the allready very weak foam surrounds (they would have broken anyway). the other cat is the one that peed on the Carvers in retaliation to this cat's presence (in the process of changing grill cloth). hence, all cats banned from the basement.
like I said, wife takes my crap, I have to take hers. its only fair :)

My wifes cats were banned from the house on day one.
They now live in my shop (garage) and the neighborhood cats come and eat the food.
Now they (some cat) have begun to "mark" (pronounced "piss on stuff") in my garage.
Not cool but better than using my speakers as a scratching post or sleeping on my components.

funny thing is, the have only scratched my old Polk RTA 12's back in the day, and the Carver's. every speaker inbetween really wasnt an issue. I guess there finicky cats. eh, grill cloth on the Carvers were a horror before the cats anyway, it put a foot in my keester to change the drivers (it needed it) and the cloth (needed that too)
I recently pulled them out of the rotation since I plan on putting more time into them. rewiring, along with the grill cloth repair.

Hmm...I'd be getting out my BB gun.
I can certainly understand having to take your wife's 'crap' since she puts up with your hobby, but I still wouldn't let them get on my equipment. I mean, she isn't convinced the cats have to sleep on your components, is she?

I pick my battles. I had a friggin caniption fit at the Carver incident. The wife took it like a trooper as I was screaming bloody murder. I was more pissed at the other cat that peed than this one for climbing. she was a small kitten at the time, I blamed myself for not being careful.
the sleeping thing? eh, whatever. aint worth a fight with the wifey. I'm protective of my theater equipment, but not as nuts as I am with the 2 channel stuff. the pre pro is the only thing exposed (rest is in an enclosed rack)
My wife returns the favor by only picking the fights that are worth it with me.

I guess that's something I'll learn is necessary.

Well, that makes it a lot better. I could live with that. :)

The day that thing spits up a furball instead of a dust bunny is the day you put an end to the cat.

find a .wav of a cat hissing, burn it on a cd. anytime the cat gets too close, crank the volume, hit that track. Works like a charm.

When the cats I have started going up in the attic part of my garage I put mouse traps up there. It is just enough to scare them and they quit going up there.

I'm going to do just that, and mix it into a dts surround track. He won't know where to run.

I also vacuum them regularly to get alot of the hair off of them.
If I could only train them to dust...

the only speaker my cat has any interest in is the subwoofer... she's not scared of it either. She will lay on top of it and be there for a while. she'll go up and sniff the grills on the other speakers.
she has NEVER scratched the grills on any speaker.
although she does like to lay on the cable internet modem, it's warm... so she likes it.

Funny stuff there.
TroyD, I like the rack on the right. Who made that?
This is the only cat in the house (out of three) that shows any interest in speakers. If she had claws my grill cloth would be shredded. This is her using an R30 for a pillow. None of the cats are interested in the components - good thing too - tube gear arriving soon.

I would love to see the size of that kitten now! LOL! :D
If I hadn't had my cats declawed, they would have made hash out of my grills! They still went after them even declawed, but they could have at it without damage to my speakers.
I miss them! :(
