Monitor 10 color difference

I just noticed a huge color difference between my two Monitor 10s. . . I knew the serial numbers were quite far apart (188900/ 172300) but never noticed such a huge color difference. Se # 188 is dark brown vinyl (walnut) and Se#172 is a more pecan color or lighter prettier as well. Function and cosmetics / drivers etc. are perfect only different colors. . .

I might not have noticed but I put my 2 Yamaha NS-690IIs in their place for a listening evaluation and for temp I stacked the Polks on the other side of the room. My wife noticed it first now it is all I see.

I do not plan on selling them, quite the opposite I love them and they are my Front speakers. My intention is to complete my HT system with other similiar Monitor 5/7 or the like including a center or a single 5 or 7 as center.

Any ideas?? I thought about recovering or new hardwood veneer but that as far as I got. . . Thinking. . . Anyone know a remedy that keeps them stock?? Maybe buy a single close to the serial number of one or the other. . .??

looking for vinyl/veneer now. . . Only thing is that with these I want it right so lots of prework ahead. I might try to find a single of either color or a pair if priced right. I am thinking about one for center. . .Anyone ever lay the 10 on its side?? I think I have enough room under my 55in display.

The best timbre match will be to use a speaker with the same tweeter and midwoofer. Your tweeter is an sl2000 (not the ones in the above photo), and I am guessing that the midwoofers are probably mw6503's. The vintage options are Monitor 10's or the SDA CRS with the same drivers, discontinued option is the CS400i, and current option is the CSi5.

The problem you would have with a Monitor 5 or 7 is that they are not an exact match. With a CRT screen and older speakers you will have to glue on a bucking magnet plus a shielding cup. I believe you have a LCD screen so this point is moot.

Polk Audio used to recommend the CS400i as a center channel match for the following vintage speakers:
"SDA-1, SDA-2 (all versions), SDA-CRS, RTA-15, RTA-12, RTA-11, RTA-8, Monitor 10 and Monitor 12, LS90, LS70, LS50, RT20p, RT16, RT12, RT10".

Just put my Polks back in service after a few days running my new Yamaha NS-690IIs and I thought they sounded incredible untill I fired up the Polks this morning. My wife heard the difference back in the bedroom and came out with a thumbs up. . . .
