I've heard no advanced buzz about this flick. The trailer looks cool, but I have to admit, hot babe with a big ass gun creating a big body count was what caught my initial interest.
Milla is YUMMY!

I think thats the worst trailer I've seen in years... I love sci fi / action, but this just looks like a Aeon Flux re-hash (although I'm sure this is based on a comic), and since I barely wanted to see Aeon Flux that's not saying much.

Can't go wrong with Milla no matter what! Count me in.

It'll definatly be worth rent but I don't think I'll go to the theaters to see it. To me it sounds like that old tv show with Jessica Alba, Dark Angel, but with a little twist in the killing of people and such.
It should be a good killing / sound effects movie.

I admit this has caught my eye too. Hot chick, martial arts, lots of explosions and violence. What could go wrong?!

It's not Resident Evil any more than Firewall is Clear and Present Danger........Even if it is, i wouldn't hold the similarity against it......I liked Resident and Present.

I watched the DVD today, definately a 'B' sci-fi movie. The killing went on and on and on without much point or gore. All tied together with a simple sappy story line.

This movie is terrible. For MJ I had no problem making in through either Resident Evil movie, but Ultraviolet was BAD.
Early B.

Agreed. Hated the half-cartoon look to it.
However, the opening scene was very cool. After that, you can turn it off.

not even worth a rental IMO. The CGI made everything look plastic and cartoony. I'll definitely put that on my "Not to watch again" list. The background music overpowered the action. No thank you. But yeah, I'd do my best at making her walk funny for a week.

I am glad I was not the only one that thought that. Thought for a minute I was getting old and just not judging my navals good anymore. :)

Loved it. Sleek, sexy, sci-fi. The CGI was interesting, looked like you were flipping the pages of a comic book at times, very cool.
If they'd only used better lighting during the scanner scene. Damnit!

I liked it for what it was. It wasn't a good movie, but it wasn't trying to be. It's a hot chick killing people in comic book fashion. Did exactly what it was supposed to do.

Great use of color, some cool effects, and decent sound, but riding the bike on the side of a building with an anti-gravity belt? Come on now. That was a bit much for me, Sci-Fi or not. The best part of this film was seeing UV in her tight oufits. Other than that?
I would even go as far to say, that Aeon Flux was a much better film. (IMO)

I agree. Aeon blew it away.
Now a Violet/Aeon catfight...that would be something. :)

haha guess im odd man out with this one, i liked it.
thought the brilliant coloring/theme along with the fight scenes had a great mix. audio wasnt perfect but it rarely ever is.
and yes i liked it better than aeon flux, which other than the fight scenes threatened to put me to sleep.
oh and one last point. (the one that matters)
Milla > Charlize.

Ok I'm about to watch it with my day old 61" HDTV. After reading all the posts here my expectations are very low so I may just enjoy this one!!!

Review:Very hot chick killing lots of guys in a slick looking film. That's what I expected and thats what I got.
BTW: It looked incredible in the new tv.

That's exactly it! Looking for more opens you up to disappointment. This movie delivered exactly what it intended to.
It was visually stunning and I thought the the CGI was pretty cool and did what it was intended to do(live comic book). The story itself sucked. It's great for testing out video screens. Looks damn good on my new 37" lcd for sure.

I'm getting this movie tomorrow (Netflix) - I guess I'll go in with low expectations. Is this worse or better than Elektra?
Demiurge
07-14-2006, 04:47 PM
I thought Elektra was terrible, so it's hard to say. Some people liked it a lot.
I don't see what everyone sees in Jennifer Garner. She's got a decent body, but she's kinda masculine looking to me.
And Milla would kick her arse!!!
BTW, in the previews, from the Ultraviolet dvd, show that movie from the videogame "Final Fantasy" . Did anyone else see the preview or did ya just skip over them?

I got Final Fantasy: Advent Children from NetFlix. It's, erm...okay. The graphics are nothing short of amazing, but I couldnt' get into the story. Once again I am a bad barometer because I am not really into Anime much at all. This is definitely different than most Anime, so it might be worth a rent.

That's all I was interested in. I was amazed at the graphics quality. It just jumped off my screen. I most likely couldn't get into the story, either, but it would probably be a great demo disc.

Same here the graphics are amazing in the Movie. I did not follow the story at all especially about "The Mother".
As per UV it really sucked IMO. Maybe I set my expectation too high from the trailers.
