Well, back to the drawing board...

Does anyone have a program that can design a subwoofer box?

I'm looking for a box..

7-4" deep, front slant - straight back. 15-18" tall - width is variable depending on the optimal volume. - oh yeah, 3/4" MDF will be the material used.

I personally want to keep the box as small as possible... so polyfill, etc - anything that adds volume to get it to a more optimal setting is also an option...

But here are the specs...

Specs -
* Size: 8 inch
* Rec. Sealed Box Dims: 0.20 - 0.45 cu.ft.
* Rec. Ported Box Dims: 0.50 - 0.70 cu.ft.
* Free Air Usage: yes
* Sensitivity: 85.6 dB
* Frequency Response: 10-150 Hz
* Recommended RMS Power: 50-300W
* Peak Power Handling: 350W
* Impedance: dual 4 ohms subwoofer wiring options

If there is a way to get respectable response out of a .2 cu ft enclosure - itd be desireable.

.2 is extremely small and I doubt youd get any sound worth a crap.

You should shoot for the .45.

You dont need a program to design a box for you as the shape of it wont effect the SQ. The only thing to be considered is to make sure its a proper interior volume.

Also, use 1/2" birch plywood. Its smaller than 3/4" MDF but just as strong so you can make the box a little smaller and still have the same volume.

Well - I was looking for prospected *response*/graphs...

I dont like building em blind.. :)

Email the manufacturer and ask them what the interior volume needs to be for optimum SQ, then build the box to that spec. Dont worry about response graphs and all that. Again, as long as the box has the proper interior volume the shape wont matter.

Thats another problem...

I dont know how to find the volume for a sloped enclosure...
*sigh*...
I feel slightly dumb.

Here ya go. (http://mtx.com/caraudio/education/enclosureConstruction.cfm)

A tutorial on MTX's website covering all that including the volume calculations for all kinds of shaped boxes.

According to that link (thanks btw)...

5.5" - 2.5" deep, 15" tall, 13" wide (internal) would be .45 cu ft.

I think I may do that... yep yep

Dont forget the 1/2" birch plywood option either. Thats what I used and I got a .53 box out of mine which when mixed with a little pollyfill is about a .58. If Id used 3/4" Id never gotten over .48!

Well...

I want to use 3/4" MDF - well...because I have a ton of it (literally) - I could build four boxes with the amount of 3/4" MDF in the garage lol

I have about 1.25" sheets of it :)

And how small .45 cu ft is - 13" wide being a variable option... I was expecting ALOT bigger - I am pretty pleased with the size.

Again, email the company and ask them what size is best. Take Diamond Audio's CM38. Its listed to work in a .27 box but when I emailed them as to the best size for SQ they told me a .5!
