This may seem a little strange but I wanted to know if there was any way to make some sort of water-resistant casing for an amp. I was thinking about getting the Polk C400.4 but I have a Jeep Wrangler that gets wet from time to time. I didn't want to spend the money on something that will probably break from water damage down the road -Thanks

the problem with the water resistant bit is that an airtight casing will generally destroy the amp's ability to dissipate heat... if you can fabricate, say, an aluminium box and figure out a way to couple the amp's casing to the box, you'll get your watertightness and still retain heat dissipation... simply sticking it in a tupperware box, however, will not cut it...

can you work with that?

Hmm, that would be tough. At one time I was contemplating making a wooden enclosure for amps in my Cherokee. I was going to make the top hinge so I could access the amp(s), and I was going to mount a few computer fans on one side of the box. That way the amp(s) would still get sufficient ventilation, and for all practicaly purposes it would be water tight, depending on just how wet your Jeep gets. Of course, I was also going to wrap the box in carpet.

Perhaps something like this would work.

I built a flat plate and mounted it under the passenger seat - (you have to remove the seat and measure carefully) then insulated it from the tub by rubber grommets (which also helps with vibration). This isn't waterproof but it protects the amp from casual splash and rain and keeps it out of the way. Chase your wires along the floor boards and kick panels (this was in 93YJ by the way). Use quick disconnects for any door speaks so you can still go naked without your doors (or change to half, etc.)
