I've noticed at some retailers that a few of their Polk speakers(rt series) have their drivers discolored into a bronze reflective shade.
It's on the rubber/leather surround of the driver. It still sounded fine. The only problem is that the driver on my speaker appears to be discoloring from it's original black as well !
Anyone notice this on their speakers? Any explanation?

Hello,
Thanks for posting on the Forum. The materials we choose for the surround and cone material are chemically very stable. The rubber surround and polymer cone materials won't react with other materials to oxidize or become discolored. However, the bonding procedure that joins the rubber surround to the plastic cone can sometimes produce a light coating. This coating is very benign and doesn't effect any aspect of the speaker's performance. I believe you may use a damp clean cloth to wipe it away, or you could just ignore it.
