Hey guys, just left an estate sale and saw a pair of NHT model 1A (I think) bookshelf speakers as well as a small wall bracket mounted pair. Both looked like good quality stuff but I had never heard of them and didn't buy them. They were part of a complete very ordinary Sony STR 2ch setup with receiver, multi cd, cassette and crappy Realistic TT. Wanted $50 for whole setup which was very fair.
After doing quick ebay and google on the NHT speaks (apparently stands for "Now Hear This") they look like they might be worth grabbing for an extra pair of bookshelf (hell i only have about 8 pairs). The IAs have nice (but stained) oak cabinets, are about 18" high by 12" wide and have an angled (into the center) front face.
I will probably head back and grab the speaks but wondered if anyone here knew of them??
Thanks.

Grab them, it's a neat speaker.

Thanks doro. I usually grab when grabing's good but I couldn't hear them and frankly had no clue. Don't really want/need the other stuff and he may not break up. We'll see.

$50 for the whole setup? Why break it up? Sell the components and make a little.

I used to have a pair of NHT 1.1....smaller version of the Model 1. The angled front baffle really does enhance imaging, especially if you follow NHT's placement guidelines. However, watch out for deteriating foam surrounds on the woofer....NHT used foam surrounds as recently as its SuperOnes.

GET THE SPEAKERS. Buy the whole package, keep the speakers and give the rest of that grunt stuff to some kid in the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, went back and the main set with all the electronics were sold (for a grand total of $25!!). Snooze, you lose. :( They still had but didn't want to sell me the small pair of NHTs since they were wall mounted and had wire running through wall. They are a pair of Super Zeros that apparently go for around $200+ used. I'm still trying to talk them into selling them though.
Damn, I should have known better. All my equipment is from sales like this!
