I'm coming from an old bottom of the line Sony compnent system that I got from a Crutchfield tent sale back when I used to live in C'ville. And a 1980 pair of Jensen 3-way floor speakers.

I've been listening to my new NAD system and LSi9s all day, and I am floored. First, there are no C521s to be had right now and the factory is not shipping anymore until after the end of the month, so the store loaned me a C542 (nice). My receiver is the C720BEE.

I was a little worried because so many people said that that receiver wasn't enough for the LSi9s. Well, I can't even get the vol 1/2 way up before it feels like my ears are gonna bleed, and that's not why I wanted this system in the first place.

Lastly, I was NOT expecting this level of good base rsponse. For bookshelf speakers, I think they are phenomenal. I actually have the bass turned back a little and the treble turned up.

Thumbs up for NAD and Polk. Now, where in the hey did I put that Dire Straits CD - dang it!!

What you're using is not just any receiver, it's a NAD. When we reccommend seperates over receivers for the LSi, we're talking about your run off the mill receivers. NAD, B&K, Outlaw, etc are pretty much super receivers that will leave mass production units in the dust.

Congrats on your new set up. Sounds like you're really enjoying the sound. You're right about the bass response on the LSi9. Even though they roll off quick around 50Hz, anything above is very potent. I love my LSi9 and don't plan to sell them. They'll come in handy when I'm married and the wife don't want big Klipsch towers:).

Remember, CH, CRANK THEM!

Thanks all. I would like to highly recommend a particular CD that matches up well with the LSi9s. It blew me away.

Movie soundtrack "Hideaway". The 5 middle tracks sound incredible out of these speakers. They will hit you you hard!
