Anyone watch it? I thought it is pretty good. Polygamy...hmmm..what a concept.

And to think three wives can sit together discussing who will get you know what on what days, without getting into catfight...

As I said, what a concept!

For those on the fence on paying for HBO, this is the year to have it ON:

Sopranos
Big Love (a maybe at this point)

that "Co#$%@*$" Deadwood - in June
Entourage - in June

I thought it was boring. I stopped watching half way through. I'll be out in Utah this week so I'll let you know if I bring back a few wives.

I miss Carnavalle:mad: The show was kind of quirky, but cool! It ended in suspense

According to the blurbs at the end of Big Love, the estimate is 20,000 to 40,000 practicing polygamists family in the states of AZ and UT. That many?

I would really like to see Rome return. I'll even watch the reruns for a 3rd time. The amazing thing to me is that the discovery and military channels have also produced shows regarding the rise and fall of the Roman Empire.

I too watched "Big Love" and I'll at least give it a few more weekends until I make up my mind.

If it sticks to the facts, Octavius and Marc Antony will have to square off for the "Crown", but after Octavius is exiled for several years. Of course, eventually, Octavius becomes one of the "better" Caesars.

I can't wait either.

Can't wait for the 3rd season of Deadwood, either.

Oh and I think it's actually Roman(the Prophet) that is/was poisoning Bill Paxson's dad(Bruce Dern) with the arsenic with whatever it was they brought him to drink in that glass jar. I kinda liked the show. Will have to see if it gets better.

I still am a fan of "The Wire". But I guess I must be the only one:). I thought it was coming back but now I just don't know.

You know that I watch Rome just for the steamy scenes..;)

Good observation on the arsenic (Ice tea?) there, Noel. I wasn't making the connection, it must be because I was pondering how can one married to a 14/15 years old bride (no, not that thought, but the intelectual pondering around having a meaningful marriage interactions like one would expect under normal circumstances). Or I can just moved to SLC to find out. Oh well..

I definitely enjoyed Big Love. I was expecting more of a light hearted theme to it... more comedy... but going into the deep dark side of the camps looks like an interesting topic. I'll keep watching this one.

HBO dropping Carnivale is a travesty. WTF. I dropped a whole bunch of F bombs when I heard they ditched that show. Between that and 6FU ending, its been a bad year for HBO.

Rome really didn't grip me all that much. It was produced very well, but some things really irked me:
1. the speed at which they went through all those years of history. They could have easily spent the entire season on Ceasar conquering Rome. Seemed like they really rushed to get to the point where Ceaser was murdered.
2. The episode(s) with Cleopatra were a waste. She was really annoying. I always pictured Cleopatra being more than 85 lbs too. Not overly sexy.

I know! I got season 1 on DVD for xmas this year, I use to watch it every week religiously, no pun intended.

Nope, my wife and I really dug that show. We were just wondering the other day, what the hell happened/where's it gone?

Jury is still out on Big Love...I too picked up on the iced tea thing.

"Caligula".

You know, the 80's Bob Guccione "Penthouse Production" film that actually made it to (some) theaters.

Whew.

On second thought, better to get the MasterPiece Theater production of "I, Claudius".

Not as much "pink", but a lot more "think".

Btw, maybe it's just me, but "doing it every night" would actually freak me out...we are talking about 365 days a year of cycling through 3 wives. I don't think I can handle that, seriously!

Yeah, and I REALLY don't need to see Bill Paxton's old hairy ass ever again, for ANY reason whatsoever. I don't care who he's in bed with.

BP ass sightings were definitely abundant in this week episode.

I'm really enjoying the storyline. It should get really interesting. The bad thing about HBO and Showtime series is how long between seasons. It's been over a year since the season finale of Huff on Showtime. How long has it been since the end of the 2nd season of Deadwood?? I could do without both if it were just for movies, but they have some really good series. Weeds, Huff, Deadwood. Big Love, Sopranos

Agree... it's series and Original Movies are what keep me a HBO subscriber.

Deadwood is the HBO Series right now... or will be when it cranks up again. Looks like May for that.

Until then Big Love may do. Has a really nice 6FU feel to it... kinda light topside with a dark underside. Great casting with Harry Dean Stanton as the heavy and Jeanne Tripplehorn as the steady wife (been a fan of hers since Basic Instinct). And when was the last time you saw Bruce Dern in anything? And this week they're adding Mary Kay Place to the mix as one of Roman's wife... and Nicole's mother... You did catch that Nicole is Roman's daughter, right?

While I was a season 1 devotee of Carnivale, season 2 slumped, IMO, until the end when all the pieces came together. However, when justin... oops, I mean Justin... was brought back by Sophie, my reaction was, "Oh no, not another season." I mean, besides a Hawkins-Justin Death Match II, where were they going to go from there?

Oh yeah, I caught that on the first episode. I have a feeling that she's gonna be the source of a lot of trouble for Bill. She told her mother, while they were back at the compound getting Frank(Dern) to the doctor, that she didn't want to go back. She's gonna end up spying for her dad, whether intentionally or not. Roman is as bad as anybody on the Sopranos, if not worse. He'll use Bill's family to hurt him and has already started with the arsenic poisoning of Frank. The show is escalating fairly rapidly, imo.

More Kudos for Deadwood. Love listening to them speak in the older style the way they formulate their sentences.
Rome is great as well A+
Sapranos goes without saying.
Big love is somewhat interesting in that it gives a window into a lifestyle. Of course at first thought most men would be like sure, 3 wives sounds good. Big Love shows the complications of such an arrangement. It's like going home to a diffenerent job. You've got to manage your home.
Viagra getting some good advertising there. :)

She definitely has those mean-streak, manipulative look (i.e. beatch) and let me guess: she will use sex as a weapon pretty soon...

Zen, having three wives NEVER come cross my mind, having three girlfriends on the other hand......

So, who's back on the bandwagon of BIG L-O-V-E? It gets interesting from the get go. Out of the three, I'd do Margie. He he he.

I like this show but I do not see it going the distance of 6 ft. Under or Sopranos. How many fights can they get into with Roman? We will see.

We love the wire as well. Nice to see the place you're from 'er, well you know. Damn glad we don't live up there anymore. The wire is an excellent representation of Balmer and of the balmer POlice.
