The POLK's website mentiones only that the MMC series speakers being compatible. Why is that and what the result would be if I remove the passive X-over on my db6500 components and wire them directly to the C400.4 and enable the active crossover? In my case, MMC6500 seems to have similar specifications to the db6500 that I have.

Thanks,
Nick

There would be no difference between using the C400.4 to amp your db6500's without the passive crossover and using it to amp MMC6500's without their passive crossovers. The only thing is, that the frequency points and slopes on the C400.4, as I understand it, were designed with the MMC6500's in mind.

It will work just fine for bi-amping your db6500's, though.

Would that mean worse sound qualty when used with db6500 or that it will need some adjustments to make it sound the same (or close) as the MMC series?

Well, the db6500 is never going to sound like the MMC600 because they're two different sets of components. And, assuming proper setups, the MMC6500 will sound better just becasue they are nicer components. However, you would go about setting the crossover settings on the C400.4 for the db6500 no differently than you would for the MMC6500. The only thing is that the actual frequency points and slopes may be different, but the amp doesn't come from the factory setup for either speaker. You'd have to fiddle around with the settings to get it just right with which ever component set you had.
