Mine are so thick and strong I can't imagine how one would break. Are you talking about the clear tube with a slot? Do you have a pic?

yeah, the clear tube, twice, snapped clean off where it inserts into the tube holder.
I've ordered a new tube and holder just for shits and giggles but this is pissing me off.
I'll take a pic...

here is a pic....
The short end is the part that is inside the tube holder, it's sheared off both times.

Troy,
Have not had that problem, of course, the whole sucking thing has all kinds of "random thoughts" going.
You bought a new 16.5? Seems the tubes would be fine, as Max said the one I got with mine the tube is very thick, the instructions said something about turning the tube opening a little bit from straight down, I did that and have not had any trouble so far.

I dunno, I'm at a loss.
I emailed VPI just to see....but I can't think of a reason why it would do that. It could be just a bad couple of tubes..

Your tubes just don't suck.....

Checked another forum and it seems to happen relatively infrequently.... one answer was to remove the tube assembly between cleanings something about the spring tension during storage. May be a quality control issue also as some had broken/cracked during long periods of storage.

Wow this is really odd. I have had my maching now for just over a year and have never had this happen. Hope you find a solution.

Could it be a production problem with a small score around the tube? Remember, with that type of material a score weakens it significantly to the point where you can snap it apart. I'll take a look at the two I have.

I got an email back from VPI, I have to lower the height on the ring, apparently the tube is taking the full force (which I didn't pay attention to) of the suction. I didn't know that there was an adjustment on it until now.
