Check out the "Varsity" ! It was featured on Food Network and is famous for its hotdogs and atmosphere. Everybody I have ever met that knows about the place recommends the place as well. Its on my must see list when I'm back in the area! Enjoy your trip!

You need reservations to get into the aquaium. But don't worry, you will be sitting in traffic anyway.

Agreed! They don't build roads in atlanta, just very long parking lots.

There is usually the Atlanta Auto show sometime in April. Probably around the middle of the month though. Always something going on down on Peachtree, around the Olympic Park, or the Convention Center.

you wouldn't happen to know who I would need to get in touch with to get reservations would you, or even maybe a number by any chance?

Go here: http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/

Funny -- I live in metro Atlanta and I can't give you any better advice about where to go than other forum members who don't live here.

BTW -- they're just kidding about buying a gun. An assault rifle would be more appropriate.

Nah, you'll have lots of fun here. No audio places to recommend, though -- just a bunch of HT stores out in the 'burbs.

If you want some real ribs, go to Fat Matt's Rib Shack on Piedmont. If ribs aren't your thing but you still want some serious BBQ, go to Wallace's in Lithia Springs/Austell.

Get a steak, egg & cheese biscuit from a Martin's if you run across one.

I think the Laser Show at Stone Mountain will be going by then. Stone Mountain is supposedly the largest piece of exposed granite in the world.

If you want to hit the bar scene Midtown, the Virginia Highlands, and Vinings are good choices. If you go to Vinings, I would coordinate it with that trip to Wallace's. Avoid Buckhead like the plague unless it's daytime and you want to visit the Atlanta History Center.

If Angie Aparo has a show by all menas go see it! Unbelieveable singer/songwriter. Ask Hoosier.

Maybe a few more folks chime in.

Let us know what part of town your business is in and where you will be staying. It will help us locals give you better advice on what to do. You don't want to be driving from one side of the city to the other.

IMHO, Underground Atlanta is a waste of time. I wouldn't recommend any visitors going there unless they wanted to see the Coke Museum or visit other downtown attractions.

Don't worry about bringing a gun, pepper spray or anthing like that. If you stay out of the bad areas, you won't have any troubles. Most of the hotels, conventions centers, and business districts are in clean, mostly crime free areas. You will know long before you get into the troubled areas. I've been in metro-ATL for almost 10 years and have never had a single problem. I ride the trains, walk around downtown, mid-town, etc.

If you have any pollen allergies, make sure you bring some Claritin or whatever you use. 1st week of April is high pollen season in Atlanta and if you've never been around pollen that leaves a visible coat on your car, then you are in for a surprise. Even if you don't have allergies, you will feel the
grittyness in your eyes.

Gold Club was shut down a few years ago by the FBI and there was a huge investigation/trial. Cheetah is the best option now if you are in Downtown/Midtown, but the Pink Pony is the best choice if you are near Buckhead.

Nothing about "Stone Mountain"? As I don't live in Atlanta is this not safe / or cool any longer?

Fat Matt's is also known for its live Blues Music. Get there early because it gets to full capacity quick. Wallace's is great, but its way out of town (near me). I doubt you will want to go way out there. Not much else out there.

I figured he might not make that far west, but I threw it out there to be safe. If he does venture to Vinings, then Wallace's is only 10 minutes or so farther west and not that far after all. :)

Stone Mountain is cool of you have a family or play golf or something like that, but if you're a young man visiting the city, it's not at the top of the list of places to visit, IMO. In fact, I've been living in Stone Mtn. for 8 years and have never gone to the "big rock."
