Hello,
I have an old NAD 2155, which I wanted to bridge, use at 4 ohms, and drive a SVS 20-39 sub. The amp has an A/B selector and switches for Bridging and for 4 versus 8 ohm. I am just not sure about the connections and don't want to fry the amp, which I otherwise have been very satisfied with for many years. PLEASE HELP.

I don't think that amp is rated for 4 ohms when bridged. I had a 2200 that is from that same line, and it was not rated for 4 ohms when bridged. You might give NAD a call and make sure.

I think Russ is right. Most of the NAD amps are recommended for 8 ohms only when bridged.

This old NAD brochure doesn't say anything about the bridged ohm rating but all of the other NAD amps I've owned say to only drive 8 ohm speakers when bridged.

I got your PM, the system won't let me PM you back. I love my NAD 2200. Lot's of power. I have had the police at my door telling me to turn it down. The cute blonde cop said it was impressive how clear and loud it was at the street with my doors and windows closed. Unless you are deaf I don't see a problem getting enough power to run your subs. I am running mine to a 15" Dayton that came from Partsexpress. Shoot me an eamil if you want more info....tomraman@yahoo.com

If you do it you will risk blowing the amp and damaging your speaker. Its a poor application when bridged. The amp will see 2 ohm loads with big bass hits, a recipe for disaster. If you use the soft clip its going to distort and sound like crap.

Big Ted...The NAD guru...knows what he is talking about! I wouldn't bridge that amp with with a sub. But hey...it's your gear...do what you want.

dude, just use one channel, cant see that being a power shortage with that SVS. bridging aint worth it.
