SPF!!!
Thanks for looking and all the comments.
Wes
Folks,
Here they are. I'm gonna put my SDA 1c's up for sale. I'm wanting a source upgrade and I decided someone else needs to be enjoying these pups. The left S/N is 10521. I believe these are pretty late SDA's made in '88 or '89.
Cosmetically, they are probably only like a 7 at best. There's nothing major, just enough little things to add up. I'll post pictures later to show.
Sonically, they are steaksauce (A1). I have upgraded the binding posts to some Vampires. I also added bucking magnets (from Polk and per Ken's instructions and specs) to all drivers for much safer use near tube TV's, say within 6 inches. All they need are the tweeter upgrades for some even more serious tuneage.
I'd like to get $350 for them. I realize these big items so I'm hoping to unload them in Tucson, Phoenix, or similar distance. If anyone in SoKal wants them, for an additional fee for gas and lunch, I'd be willing to meet you in Yuma.
Pictures will be coming soon. steveinaz, BIZILL, and slzheppy (sp) have all seen these and can vouch.
Thanks for the interest!
Wes
ETA: Does include the factory pin/blade IC. Thanks, RT1. Also, these cannot be bi-wired/amped without some serious crossover work. Don't ask how I know and you'll see it in the pics this evening. :)

Mike & RT1, thanks for the bumps.
As promised, here are the pictures.
As you can see, I tried to make these bi-wireable at BobMcG's suggestion. Unfortunately, I was unaware of how variable the SDA's had been over the years. Bob's crossover was a 2 piece unit. Highs on one board, mid-bass on the other. He just had to add a second set of binding posts. I, on the other hand, have a one piece crossover and had already drilled out the back plates and added a second set of Vampires. I left them in for a long time them I decided I wanted to use them to upgrade my Parasound's binding posts. So, I added a bolt of the appropriate size with rubber-backed washers on each side.
The other two pictures show the reasons why I said 7/10 at best. The corner and that spot on the lower facia are the worst on the speakers. Overall, there are about a half-dozen other spots, rubs, or whatever.
FWIW, the Studio versions of the SDA's seem to be pretty rare. I know these aren't in the best condition, but they haven't gotten any worse since I bought them about 6 or 7 years ago.
Thanks again for looking.

Thanks, George. I'm not trying to under cut your sale or anything, just not getting much interest on these for some reason, even on the 'gon.

After a nice conversation on the phone with Wes, I now have dibs on the SDA-1Cs here. Sorry to every other polkie missing out, but I do live within driving distance :D
I have a quick question:
What options on center channel speaker do I have to match fairly well with this? There is a CS400 on Ebay today. Is that a good choice? Others?
Also, I have a Denon 3300 receiver. Good power for a Denon. Will it suffice?
No long thread required, just a quick yes, no, maybe :)

good on you,,for that price,they are a steal,,enjoy :)
I have a pair of SDA 1's that look just like this pair. I was under the impression they are SDA 1B studios based on the cabinet design. How do I know if I have 1B or 1C studios? Thanks!

check to see if your's look like these or not.. these are 1C's

Hey Danger Boy.........not only do mine look like those..........mine ARE those!!!! Right down to the serial number on the right speaker! I bought them on ebay here while back.......are you the original owner? I thought the speakers were shipped from Florida. I always assumed they were 1B's because of the cabinet style. I assumed the 1C studio models would have cloth on the sides with black caps. Did Polk ever make 1B studio models and what did they look like?

Whatchu talkin' bout?
They are not mine... i have never owned any 1C's. but i have heard them before. I got that like from a Polkie who has a site www.polksda.com lots of pics, and info there. I'm not sure where he got those pics either. But message him if you have info to add.
I'm saying those ARE my speakers. The photos from the website you posted are the photos used in the ebay ad when I purchased them. The serial number in the photo is the serial number of my right speaker.

Maybe I'm confused,(which is not difficult to do), but are you saying that the sda's that you now own,are also shown on the "vintage" homepage
I am saying the speakers at the link given by danger boy (http://www.polksda.com/sda1c-studio.shtml) are my speakers........I own them.......they are sitting in my dining room this very moment........thus my surprise when I opened the link. I purchased them a year ago off ebay. The photos shown at the above link are the photos that were used by the seller in the ebay ad.......so I assume the seller took them. I think they were shipped from Florida when I purchased them.

Just wanted to follow up and say that SIG-1 delivered the goods. The speaksers look their age. no doubt, but they sound good. Recommend dealing with SIG-1. Honest player.
