I'm thinking of getting a new amp, allways looking around

I was recently considering an Odyssey Stratos, even new, I can swing it with my budget. And I hear nothing but good things. Not much debate wether the amp is good or not. They are rarely if ever sold used, and when they are, its not for that much less than new (the transferrable warranty has something to do with that as well.

here's the issue. its 150x2 into 8 ohms. I know there are 150 wpc amps that sound better than ones at twice the power blah blah. I am more than aware of this, but will the Odyssey powering my Carver Platinum Amazings asking too much of it?

the platinums are 8 ohms, so I dont think I will fry the amp, its just wether the amp will do the platinums justice. I think due to the qualioty of the amp, the answer would be yes, but what do you guys think.

Hmm....150x8. Anybody for some quadruple-amping? I don't see why that wouldn't be enough power.

:p :D :D

You should throw as power as possible to those speakers.

yeah, that makes sence. I'm just getting skittish. I love my carver, sounds good, gobs of power on tap, but no one can service them as far as I know. so I've been looking around. anyone got ideas? Or should I just wait for the Carver to die before I worry about.

I know I can sell it for quite a bit, they've been fetching quite a bit on ebay despite the servicing worries floating about. I would feel guilty selling to a fellow polkie knowing this.

eh, whatever, I'm going to sleep, I'm sure I can find bigger stuff to worry about

Give Klause at Odyssey a call and ask him. He'll give you a straight answer. You have to consider more than wpc's when making that decision.

If it's Carver and doesn't work, set fire to it immediately..

Short answer, I would look elsewhere for an amp.

If you just have to find out about the Stratos, they have a return policy, or see if Kluas will send you a demo model.
