what in the hell is the space junket? You know that thing that looks like a huge alien that's sitting inside of what looks like a cockpit to a big-ass ray gun?
The DVD commentary doesn't offer any insight except maybe that it was an alien pilot.
But that doesn't make sense. Since when did these things have the intelligence to fly a spaceship? Or build a spaceship for that matter? Can someone enlighten me on this?

well that thing is HUGE. That's prob. my most favorite shot in the entire movie. After googling, I think I misspelled it. It's a "Space Jockey".
ok yeah. finally found a link that might be useful. interesting ****.

I believe the "Space Jockey" is supposed to add to the mystery... Think about it for a second. When this scene appears it is before anybody has encountered the "real" alien! You first see it when the chest bursting scene appears later in the movie. Nobody expects it to happen because the "face hugger" was assumed to be the ALIEN or was it the "Space Jockey" or the "face hugger" or the "chest burster" ? Hmmmm...the damned thing keeps morphing into something else! Check out the artwork of H.R. Giger if you want to see more ALIEN type stuff. It was his work that inspired the original ALIEN ! This artist has some twisted demons that must be hounding him because his work is really dark, erotic, and generally scary or disturbing! Cool stuff in either case!

Prior to the "Alien vs. Predator" film, the two main theories were:
1. The Space Jockey was transporting the alien eggs, one or more of the aliens escaped, decimated the crew, and caused the ship to crash on planet LV-426.
2. The Space Jockey's ship was not transporting alien eggs but developed some problem that caused it to land or crash on planet LV-426. The area the ship came to rest on was just above a cave which was an alien nest.
#2 is problematic because the aliens are a parasitic species and LV-426 was supposed to be devoid of life, at least the type of life that could support the alien's life cycle.
#1 is more plausible in light of AvP because it was revealed that the Predators transported aliens to use for sport and warrior "rite of passage" rituals.

despite using all of my telepathic mental powers, Sigourney Weaver never did show up at my front door wearing those little cotton panties.
I mean, I sat there in the front room for 2 weeks with a tub of butter, just waiting, and ..... uhm ....... :o
....uhm...... uh........well.......I was just kidding, okay. That never happened.
Disregard this post.
